Retired homicide detective Bill Hodges is pulled back into the chilling unsolved case of Mr Mercedes and must stop the serial killer from striking again.
2013 saw thriller writer Stephen King (pic) back in the limelight as "The Shining" follow-up, "Doctor Sleep", released in September.
June 3 will see the English-language publication of "Mr Mercedes", in which ex-detective Hodges is thrust into the role of amateur investigator, recruiting a bunch of unlikely co-conspirators in an effort to prevent a calculating hit & run driver from striking again.
Hodder displayed no qualms over publishing a work that deviated from the horror genre that King is best known for, with editor Philippa Pride promising that the "brilliantly insightful portrait of a serial mass-murderer" would be "as scary as any supernatural horror story". - AFP/Relaxnews, December 19, 2013.
