ATR wins Malaysia Airlines deal for up to 36 planes

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 – Malaysia Airlines has signed an order for 20 ATR 72-600s, as well as options for a further 16 of the turbo-prop aircraft, the regional planemaker said yesterday.

The deal is worth more than US$840 million (RM2.6 billion) including the options, ATR said in a statement.

“The arrival of these new ATR 72-600s will enable Malaysia Airlines to further expand its regional offer, adding new routes and frequencies to its global network,” ATR said.

ATR is a joint venture of European aerospace group EADS and Italian company Finmeccanica. – Reuters
