July vehicle sales down 6pc on year, says MAA

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — Vehicle sales in Malaysia in July fell 6 per cent to 50,252 units from a year earlier, the Malaysian Automotive Association said today.

The MAA said sales volume was higher than the previous month due to increased supply and festive season demand.

It said sales for August was expected to be better than July on increased demand for cars during the Eid festive season.    

The comparative sales figures for July for passenger cars was 44,835 against the corresponding month last year of 48,144. The respective figures for commercial vehicles were 5,417 and 5,339. — Reuters
