KL shares easier at midafternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 – Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-afternoon today, weighed down by losses in bluechips on continued selling, dealers said.

As at 3.22 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,612.77, erasing 20.58 points, after opening at 1,634.02.

The Finance Index dwindled 83.439 points to 14,864.74, the Industrial Index declined 29.54 point to 2,775.56, and the Plantation Index fell 103.44 points to 7,850.76.

The FBM Emas Index dipped 128.88 points to 10,956.16, the FBMT100 was 125.72 points lower at 10,818.96, and the FBM Ace Index dropped 59.96 points to 3,976.22 while the FBM Mid 70 Index fell 82.159 points to 11,926.98.   

Market breadth was negative with losers outnumbering gainers by 506 to 118 while 281 counters were unchanged, 743 untraded and 25 others suspended.

Volume stood at 695.976 million shares worth RM1.118 billion.

Among actives, Patimas was down 1.5 sen to 6.5 sen, China Automobile Parts dwindled 9.5 sen to 58.5 sen and Compugates was flat at nine sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank fell two sen to RM8.94, Sime Darby erased seven sen to RM9.23, Axiata declined 19 sen to RM6.10 and CIMB lost three sen to RM7.16. – Bernama
