KL shares end morning session mixed

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session mixed as the market lost some ground after recent gains, dealers said.

The benchmark FBM KLCI, however, stayed above the 1,600 points level, gaining 5.63 points to 1,606.48 after opening 1.62 points higher at 1,602.47.

In regional markets, stocks rose on hopes that policy makers would take measures to bolster growth in view of weak manufacturing data released by major economies.
The Finance Index advanced 51.561 points to 14,317.83, the Plantation Index added 33.329 points to 8,529.52 but the Industrial Index slipped 2.51 points to 2,844.84.

The FBM Emas Index increased 32.39 points to 10,973.42, FBM 70 Index gained 7.43 points to 11,999.60 and the FBM Ace Index declined 49.13 points to 4,331.57.

Losers led gainers 280 to 266 while 319 counters were unchanged, 686 untraded and 11 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 548.5 million shares worth RM628.3 million.

Actives, Flonic Hi-Tec Warrants slipped half-a-sen to 5.5 sen, Ingenuity Solutions warrants was unchanged at six sen, Ingenuity Solutions gained half-a-sen to 12 sen but Flonic Hi-Tec declined half-a-sen to nine sen.

Maybank was unchanged at RM8.71, Sime Darby gained one sen to RM9.90, CIMB rose six sen to RM7.61 and Petronas Chemicals increased three sen to RM6.45. — Bernama
