KL shares extend uptrend at midmorning
KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia extended uptrend at midmorning today, buoyed by buying interest in plantation counters, dealers said.
At 11am, the FBM KLCI was up 5.38 points at 1,574.81 after opening 5.45 points higher at 1,574.88.
The Finance Index rose 12.36 points to 14,065.75, the Plantation Index gained 36.52 points to 8,319.89 and the Industrial Index added 15.59 points to 2,758.88.
The FBM Emas Index improved 45.76 points to 10,736.61, the FBM Mid 70 Index increased 90.89 points to 11,680.39 and the FBM ACE Index rose 48.3 points to 4,205.08.
Advancers led decliners 326 to 127 while 271 counters were unchanged.
Turnover stood at 292.83 million shares worth RM345.56 million.
Among active counters, Focus Dynamics Technologies rose three sen to 17 sen, Focus Dynamics Tech-Warr gained 1.5 sen to nine sen, while Permaju Industries fell 1.5 sen to 62.5 sen.
Of heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM8.73, Sime Darby rose four sen to RM9.72 while CIMB was unchanged at RM7.49. — Bernama
