KL shares remain higher at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 – Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at mid-morning on continued buying interest, dealers said.

As at 11.06 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) increased 4.48 points to 1,633.14 despite opening 1.9 points weaker at 1,626.76.

The Finance Index rose 69.03 points to 14,871.96, the Industrial Index gained 7.95 points to 2,730.25 and the Plantation Index added 8.9 points to 8,005.79.

The FBM Emas Index jumped 32.78 points to 11,108.44, the FBMT100 increased

30.58 points to 10,956.33, the FBM Mid 70 Index was 35.89 points better at 12,081.71 but the FBM Ace Index shed 4.28 points to 4,133.1.

Gainers led losers by 292 to 175 with 245 counters unchanged, 947 untraded and 28 others suspended.

Volume stood at 296.58 million shares worth RM386.88 million.

Among actives, Tiger Synergy added one sen to 34 sen, The Media Shoppe earned half-a-sen to 9.5 sen, Alam Maritim rose 3.5 sen to 88 sen but Patimas Computers eased half-a-sen to 12.5 sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank gained three sen to RM8.90 while CIMB, Sime

Darby and Axiata Group were four sen higher at RM7.26, RM9.26 and RM6.40 respectively. – Bernama
