Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

June 12, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — The ringgit traded lower against the US dollar in early session today on selling pressure, dealers said.

At 9.30am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1805/1835 to the US dollar compared with 3.1675/1705 yesterday.

Dealers said the selling pressure was expected to carry over amid scepticism that the Spanish banks bailout plan would resolve the prevailing eurozone crisis.

Meanwhile, the ringgit saw little change vis-a-vis the Singapore dollar at 2.4755/4797 from Monday' 2.4763/4806 and weakened against the yen to 4.0132/0191 from 3.9801/9844 yesterday.

The local unit was also little changed against the British pound at .9253/9309 from 4.9269/9325 yesterday but stronger against the euro at 3.9696/9736 from 3.9888/9936 previously. — Bernama
