Last week, the mega-chain opened up a nearly 10,000-square-meter store in New Delhi, simultaneously launching 14 new brands in the country.

Alongside staples from Dior, Estée Lauder, and Clinique, Indian shoppers can now peruse products from Make Up For Ever, Benefit, Stila, Bliss and StriVectin, among others, as well as Sephora's line of makeup, skincare, and accessories.

According to WWD, the new shop is also Sephora's first to have a “shop-in-shop” with ayurveda-based brand Forest Essentials holding court.

While there are no immediate plans for additional stores in the country, Sephora expects to bring more brands into the store in coming weeks. Plus Sephora India has launched a Facebook page and Twitter acccount to build social media momentum for its products.

Sephora isn't the only international fashion brand with its sights set on India. The country is a rapidly growing luxury market, according to Franchise India, with brands Icnonix, LVMH, and Roberto Cavelli reportedly fashion newcomers to the scene.

Sephora, which is owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, has more than 1,300 stores in 27 countries, according to the company. — AFP-Relaxnews
