Share prices end morning session lower amid mixed sentiments on Asian bourses

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session lower in cautious trading amid mixed sentiments on the Asian bourses, dealers said.

At the midday break, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.42 of a point to 1,862.42 after hovering between 1,859.01 and 1,862.54 during the trading session.

Market breadth was negative as losers led gainers 307 to 286, while 329 counters were unchanged, 695 untraded and 23 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 791.2 million shares worth RM646.25 million.

On the scoreboard, the Industrial Index shed 9.27 points to 3,171.44, the Plantation Index dipped 7.84 points to 9,112.42 and the Finance Index slipped 3.74 points to 16,995.86.

The FBM 70 was 32.21 points weaker at 13,987.15, the FBM Emas Index fell 6.78 points to 12,877.16, the FBMT100 Index dwindled 8.59 points to 12,526.4 and the FBM Ace fell 32.79 points to 6,571.19.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank and CIMB were flat at RM9.81 and RM7.34 respectively, Public Bank eased two sen to RM20.02 while TNB added two sen to RM11.98.

Among actives, PDZ Holdings and Talam Transform were flat at 18.5 sen and 10 sen respectively, while GPS Holdings and Naim Indah gained 1.5 sen each to 14.5 sen and 13 sen respectively. – Bernama, May 9, 2014.
