KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were mixed at mid-afternoon in rangebound trade with interest centred on penny stocks and selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,706.39 points, slightly down by 0.96 points from yesterday’s 1,707.35 points.
Among active bluechips for the session were CIMB, up two sen to RM7.75, and Maybank, which rose six sen to RM9.47.
A total of 409.05 million shares worth RM967.50 million were traded across the board.
Losers led gainers by 290 to 229, with 281 counters unchanged, 811 untraded and 30 others suspended.
The Finance Index dropped 117.841 points to 15,884.10 and the Industrial Index eased 8.13 points to 2,8333.38, but the Plantation Index climbed 0.29 point to 8,153.44.
The FBM Emas Index fell 6.76 points to 11,644.05 and the FBMT100 Index lost 4.29 points to 11,482.36.
The FBM Mid 70 Index, however, edged up 9.51 points to 12,845.24 and the FBM Ace Index firmed 4.04 points to 3,975.46.
Among actives, MNC Wireless and Iris inched up half-a-sen each to 25 sen and 16.5 sen respectively, Astral Supreme slipped half-a-sen to 21.5 sen and Sapura Kencana lost four sen to RM3.03.
Nextnation Communication was unchanged at nine sen.
Of the heavyweights, Axiata added five sen to RM6.79, while Sime Darby and Petronas Gas gained one sen each to RM9.39 and RM19.50 respectively.
Petronas Chemicals dropped one sen to RM6.49 and Tenaga shed five sen to RM7.80. – Bernama
