KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 – Star Publications (M) Bhd’s pre-tax profit for the nine months ended Sept 30, 2012 fell to RM147.14 million from RM183.364 million in the same period in 2011.
Revenue, however, rose to RM785.80 million from RM766.32 million previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
Star said group revenue rose by 2.5 per cent due to better revenue from event and exhibition and television segments.
“However, lower pre-tax profit was due to lower print advertising revenue and higher operating expenses,” it said.
The media group said the business environment in the media industry would remain highly challenging for the remaining part of the year.
“The company will do its best to ensure a satisfactory performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2012,” it said. – Bernama
