TM launches entertainment content delivery portal
KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has launched My1Content portal, an entertainment content delivery platform that allows content buyers and sellers to upload and/or download entertainment content within the environment of an online marketplace.
TM group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zamzairani Mohd Isa said My1Content would enable content and application providers to interact with potential buyers and brokers regionally and internationally.
“The ecosystem created is aimed at enhancing the value of local content industry in an effort to enable more local companies to benefit from the market,” he said at the launch of the portal by Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim here tonight.
As a platform providing the country's first major content service, My1Content would host a variety of local creative content, and provide an integrated platform for videos, music, movies, games and applications.
My1Content was developed in collaboration with the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry.
Meanwhile, Rais said the communication and creative content industry was expected to generate more than RM40 billion a year through partnership internationally.
Of the total, he said, RM11 billion would be from the creative content.
For this purpose, he said the government would organise the Kuala Lumpur Communications and Content Industry Market Exhibition this year.
“The exhibition will gather local content for the international market and it will be a yearly affair as it will provide benefits to the industry and country,” he told reporters.
On My1Content, Rais said the portal development was in line with the National Creative Industry Policy which encouraged the involvement government-linked companies, local companies and multinational corporations to support government
initiatives in improving the industry.
“The development of this platform, which acts as a digital market, is set to create waves of innovations in local content and help suppliers of small content to reach a wider market,” he said.
To date, My1Content has 48 multi-purpose applications, 50 films and animations, and five musical pieces from local independent groups, he added. — Bernama
