Three variants — the 320d, 328i and 335i — will be available from the start, but more models are certain to join the line-up in the near future.

“The BMW 3 Series is the best-selling sports sedan in the premium segment that there has ever been with well over 12 million units sold worldwide since the car’s creation in 1975,” said Geoffrey Briscoe, managing director of BMW Group Malaysia during today’s launch.

“We are confident that the all new sixth generation BMW 3 Series will continue to set a higher benchmark in automotive history!”

The latest generation 3 Series takes BMW’s Efficient Dynamics concept further, delivering an even greater combination of improved performance and exemplary fuel consumption.

In a display of the brand’s commitment towards diesel technology, BMW is introducing the turbo-diesel 320d as the base model for the range and replacing the popular 320i.

Next up, the 328i, in yet another departure from the brand’s traditional naming convention, features a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that delivers 245hp and 350Nm.

The flagship 335i comes equipped with the double award winning 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, and boasts a generous 306hp and 400Nm.

ConnectedDrive Apps, BMW’s enhanced driver assistance systems and mobility services, is also enabled on the 328i and 335i, bringing with it direct access to web radio, Facebook and Twitter directly through the vehicles’ on-board Control Displays.

Prices start from RM268,800 for the BMW320d and extend all the way to RM488,800 for the range-topping 335i. Prices cover the BMW Service + Repair Inclusive programme, but do not include insurance.
