Vending machine spits out beer for a tackle
SALTA PROVINCE (Argentina) — An Argentinean beer maker has created a vending machine that requires drinkers to tackle the dispenser à la rugby players — the country's second unofficial sport after soccer.
To promote the brand in the northern Salta Province, Cerveza Salta has rolled out the Rugbeer, a machine akin to carnival strongman games constructed with a built-in sensor that requires consumers to tackle the machine in order to get their beverage, reported trendspotting site PSFK.com this week
Though the South American country may be known for its fanatical love of soccer, Salta Province is known as the "New Zealand" of Argentina for their love of rugby.
Conceived by creative agency Ogilvy, consumers can act out their aggressions on the machine, or as illustrated in the promotional video, come to the rescue of a parched and fragile damsel in distress desperate for a can of brewsky.
It's a similar concept to Coca-Cola's ‘Hug Machine' which was launched at the National University of Singapore earlier this year, and dispensed free cans of Coke in exchange for a hug.
