Nikkei jumps more than 3pc, recovery hopes buoy

TOKYO, Aug 24 – Japan's Nikkei stock average surged 3.1 per cent on Monday, buoyed by hopes for a global economic recovery, with exporters gaining and Honda Motor Co and other carmakers up after falling sharply last week.

The benchmark Nikkei rose 307.80 points to 10,546.00, while the broader Topix gained 2.4 per cent to 970.14. – Reuters
