Ringgit opens slightly higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 – The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar today supported by commercial buying, dealers said.

However, the gains might be limited as players were still cautious over the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting later today.

At 9 am, the ringgit was traded slightly higher against the US dollar at 3.4250/4290 compared with yesterday's closing at 3.4290/4340.

In early trading today, the ringgit was traded mostly higher against other major currencies. Against the Singapore dollar, the local unit rose to 2.4450/4505 from 2.4460/4518 yesterday and appreciated against the Japanese yen to 3.8001/8062 from 3.8087/8147 previously.

The ringgit was however traded lower against the British pound at 5.6218/6304 from 5.5911/6006 yesterday but it was firmer against the euro at 5.0402/0475 from 5.0522/0602. – Bernama
