KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — Shares in Malaysia’s biggest lender Maybank fell today ahead of its quarterly earnings release.
By 3.26pm, Maybank was down 0.29 per cent at RM6.83 a share, on a volume of 1.81 million shares.
The KLSE lost 0.49 per cent.
Maybank will announce its first-quarter earnings after the market closes today.
Maybank’s first-quarter net profit is expected to rise by 26 per cent from a year ago to RM720 million, according to the average forecast by four analysts surveyed by Reuters.
Maybank shares have underperformed peers and the wider market so far this year, gaining just 50 per cent, compared to the 122 per cent gain in rival CIMB. — Reuters
