PENANG, Nov 17 — Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ali Rustam said all disputes on the New Economic Policy should end because now was the time to implement it in full.
He said although the policy was seen as an effort to help lift the economic status of Bumiputeras, it also benefited others.
"Presently, Bumiputera achievement is still low and they are under pressure because the NEP has yet to show its impact on the Bumiputeras.
"Now is the time to uplift the economy of the Malays and Bumiputeras and not to question the policy," he told reporters after opening the Malay Contractors Cooperative Malaysia annual meeting here yesterday.
Ali who is Malacca Chief Minister, said many fields should also be developed and the policy did not focus on just one.
Meanwhile, he also suggested to the cooperative to set up a company which supplies bulding materials to its members. The government would not hesitate to channel aid to the company which would indirectly benefit the Bumiputeras, he said.
"It is just a suggestion. It is up to the cooperative to carry it out. On the part of the government, we can help maybe in terms of expertise in managing the company," he said. — Bernama

and yes, the NEP has benefited other races too, by making us stronger, more competitive, more aggressive, more creative, more dynamic and with stronger survival instincts, everything that the bumiputras are not, due to the rot that the fake NEP has caused.
get rid of umno, and malaysia will be a prosperous country!

In a twisted way Ali is right. NEP was never implemented in full to help the poor and unconnected Malays and non malay bumis but was hijacked by Umnoputras to be exploited in full for their benefits. Now it the time to reform the NEP to stop the leakages and wastage and implement it in full judiciously and in a open and transparent manner.

Then where all the money goes during the past 37 years?
Why the poor regardless race didn't really benefit?
Now you say, let's really implement the policy?!
Is it still relevant to implement a policy after 37years?
How is Malaysia going to progress if we are acting like katak di bawah tempurung?
37 years ago, may be the policy is relevant.. but, the world has changed, things have changed.
Global recession which may be greater than Great depression in 1929 may be happened as economists predicted.
And, you say now is the time to implement 'NON-OPEN' policy?
The funny thing is when people voiced out that NEP should be abolished, then BN said NEP has been replaced by National Development Policy long time ago (1991). When Lim Guan Eng said Penang is going to implement open economy policy, then UMNO protested and said "NEP cannot be abolished. LGE is racist." And now again, you tell me you have never implemented this policy?!
How am I going to trust you???

Let us know how much you stashed away in offshore bank accounts as well. Let us know how much capital outflow NEP has cost Malaysia and how much NEP has benefited the developed countries.

Forget it! Those who still think that UMNO can change, yeah keep dreaming. Those who still think Malaysia can still achieve the economic growth like in the 80s and early 90s, find out what exactly was the reason behind to the economic boom or yeah... keep dreaming!
I'm carrying out migration plan, for I see if the trend continues, this nation will be totally screwed and there's no turning back. And most probably it will happen real sooner than you think. If it does, it's gonna be very messy and dirty.
Advice to progressive Malaysians - start to do reality check and risk evaluation! The hope is going dimmer day by day. Start to prepare a back-up plan now before it's too late. UK, US, Canada, Australia, China, Japan, India, Singapore, HK, Taiwan, Europe, Dubai, even Thailand or Vietnam. Good luck!

40 years of NEP, why not achieve 30%?
19% achieved? then how many percent of Malays hold the 19% of the wealth?
This question is very important, if only 5%~10% of Malays hold the 19% wealth, then NEP is not helping the poor, but only create 5%~10% very rich Malays.
And, we never seen any report from BN, especially Umno declared how manay % of Malays hold the 19% of wealth. If NEP continue, who will benefit? again the 5% to 10% malays!!!

He still being denial on the whole issue.. people are not questioning on the purpose of NEP but rather its implementation & the result. As much as people hope to see Bumiputras' economy being uplifted, we just don't want this benefits to fall into wrong pockets, only pockets of the 3%-5% bumiputras that related to each other. Understand now?
Or maybe i'm dumb enough to believe that NEP should be abolished because it 'benefits others too'... Ask any average working joe Bumis & they'll tell you what do they benefit from NEP, nevermind the 'others'.

When someone question the behavior or conduct of a Chinese person, it is not akin to questioning the whole Chinese race, just him or her. Likewise when questioning your conduct and stupidity, it is not questioning the whole Malay population or when questioning the ways UMNO implement the NEP, it is also not questioning the policy itself. just the implementation. Fight your own battle, do not instigate the whole Malay population to do battle for you when it is only you and your cronies who benefit from the policy.

I wonder why some politicians can drive expensive cars and have palaces when their paid salary does not justify so.
I wonder why peole still vote for UMNO when they are such a failure for 51 years.
Its time to get rid ourselves of bloodsucking morons who only knows to enrich themselves.
The most vocal people defending the NEP are the laziest and riches of the lot.

I have many good Malay friend that work so hard but still struggle to feed their family simply because they don't know anyone in UMNOputras. Could you please tell us more how the NEP were IMPLEMENTED in the past 37years?
we know "many" benefited as they could go to school and get educated, and many have made it into uni and MARA with very MINIMUM requirements. But what have you trained this NEW GENERATION? The system give them everything they need without really trying very hard, the system put them in any courses without acquire any real LIVING SKILLS (graduated will degree that is not relevent to markets needs). Many of them couldn't find job after graduate, then the system "created" another "training school" to re-train this young graduate, you created additional position + extras in government dept and GLC so you could continue to feed these young people. Then you tell them this is their birth"RIGHTS" that no one should question or challenge. I think any right minded Malaysian will agree that government provide help to any of our fellow Malaysian. The BIG QUESTION is why waste our hard earn money by not doing it RIGHT in the first place? Why feed them FISH with GOLDEN Spoon/hand but not TEACH them HOW TO FISH from young? OPS! Sorry, I think the system (implementation) did teach some of them to FISH -- become someone just like you! BIG time fisherman -- fishing for VOTE. or become one of the "UKF" club member (UMNO Kronies Fishing Club) and start fishing big projects (more Contractors Cooperative could be set up). 1 for your brother in law, 1 for your out law, 1 for you without law........! and all Malay Contractors Cooperative member pay you RM200+ for 1 screw driver, they get to build more government office and training schools that leak every raining day to house more young graduates that lack skill?? More allocation for repairs and maintainance so the cooperative get more project offers and more "poorly" related Malay could also get some projects? Is that how NEP have benefit the poor? This way to acheive the 30% wealth for Malay?
Please do something to help all Malaysian. In fact it will be very helpful at this time of economy melt down that all your UKF give back just 30% of what you "BIG TIME FISHERMAN" have taken from what belongs to the poor for the past 37 years. Then we Malaysian will not have to pay for the petro tax, could still enjoy roti canai at RM1 (may be), Najib could also then come out with 70B stimulation package without looking at petronas or poor Malaysian like us for the petro tax! The deficit will not increase to 4.8% but reduce to 2%.
Don't let your fellow Malaysian curse you everyday. Remember the curse will past down to your children's children. I hope you and all your UKF will be able to sleep well, and your children will not be cursed! I hope you and all your UKF will go to heaven, but becareful of what will be your report card up there if you guys managed to get up there!! I hope you "stone" the devil out you you and not be "stoned" like the devil!!! god bless you with wisdom and god fearing heart so you could do the right things and do them right. Its not too late to turn back to make right what you have done wrong, at least for your children if not for all Malaysian. Count your days......its near enough for you and your UKF to reflect.
