KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 – Cuepacs was told today not stage nationwide rallies to explain to the civil servants the rationale behind its plan to boycott the Competency Level Assessment (PTK) examination.
“It is not a good suggestion or idea that Cuepacs is still determined to out carry this act,” Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam told reporters when visiting the Industrial Court here.
He said the ministry was willing hear Cuepacs’ views and reasons.
“If they are against PTK exams and have strong feelings about it, they should continue their representations and give their views and reasons as to why they feel that way and we, the government, will by all means listen to them,” he said.
He said his concern was that if Cuepacs carries out the rallies or boycotts the examination, it would only jeopardise the civil servants, especially when it comes to their promotions.
“So in this kind of situation, and members of the civil service should be aware that making representations is one thing and making a unilateral decision to boycott is another,” he said.
On MIC elections, Subramaniam who is party secretary-general, said it was too early for him to think about his position in the party and would rather concentrate on his responsibility as a minister.
“We got ten to eleven months more to go and I am sure MIC will make a collective decision on its future direction when the time is right,” he said. – Bernama
