In fact we should stop calling the opposition as opposition. Like in the States they have the Republicans and Democrats. So over here we have the BN and PR. As what Zaid has said they both have their own ideals. So it's up to the people's choice.

Well you always want to go where everybody knows and respects you. Zaid cannot go to a UMNO function without getting booed and heckled and Yong, if he goes to KL now he certainly cannot go to Putrajaya to meet the BN Chairman. So as they say birds of the same feather flies together ma.

We ahould start calling them PR or BN. The word opposition gives very bad connotation to both BN and PR. Quite confusing as well.

Both are government and opposition so who is who ? Is BN equals government ? No, they are opposition in 5 states (6 if you include FT). Is PR opposition ? No, they are the government in 6 states !

There is nothing wrong with 'conscience politicians' -- Zaid should do what he believes in, even if it means showing support for opposition initiatives that is beneficial to all.

LGE made a comment at the function. He said something to the effect that the PR government will work harder and spend less. I don't think the people have any qualms about the government spending big provided equitable returns and benefits go back to the rakyat. Rakyat will be damn happy and pleased if the mega-bucks that BN had squandered over recent years are spent on education, healthcare, eradication of poverty (to name a few) instead of on projects that only benefit (you know who)! Today our schools and hospitals are in atrocious conditions. Yet we spend unnecessary money sending people to outer space, monsoon cup, etc etc etc.

LGE, spend by all means but please be accountable for what you spend. And not like those who wasted taxpayers' money on total unnecessary things as if the money belongs to them. Just make sure rakyat get value for the money that you spend. And not like spending RM200+ on a screwdriver, or on helicopters which cost more than what they should rightly cost. If the private sector can enforce controls in their procurement process (eg via tenders), the rakyat expect no less from the government when they buy things costing much much more. When abuse and corruption arise and detected, the rakyat also expect you to haul up and punish the perpetrators. Not letting them get away with murder (literally). If you do that, PR will have the full support of the rakyat. Now & forever! And the other states will also know what to do at the next GE.
