MELAKA, Dec 23 — Malaysia is willing to offer help towards the advancement of Malays in countries where they are a minority, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak.
He said Malaysia could be a gateway for this through the Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI, Malay World Musim World) Forum to help Malays in countries like in the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Cambodia, South Africa and southern Thailand.
“Of course the Malays in these countries must be realistic. They cannot expect us to support them in taking up arms for a revolution to establish Malay governments in them,” he said when opening the DMDI's 9th convention at a hotel in Bandar Hilir here today.
Also present were Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
According to Najib, the DMDI could play constructive role in bringing about peace in southern Philippines and southern Thailand.
He said Malaysia had played an active role in southern Philippines towards ending the Moro conflict though the peace process there had encountered some obstacles lately.
He added that the DMDI should do all it could to portray Islam as an ideal religion which strived for the advancement of all peoples.
At the function, Mohd Ali, who is also DMDI president, presented Najib DMDI’s Mansyur Shah award which is a special recognition in honour of the Melaka empire during the reign of Sultan Mansyur Shah.
Over 500 participants from among others Malaysia, South Africa, the Philippines and Indonesia are participating the convention which ends tomorrow. — Bernama

so if the rules apply to other races, china and india can extend their help to all the malaysian chinese and indians too. guess the malaysian govt will not agree. so there's one special rule for the malays and a lesser rule for others.

As it is Singapore has got ASEAN scholarships to all ASEAN students. What about setting up - His Majesty ASEAN Scholarships to bright Malay students so that Malaysia could have the "creams" for the future Malaysia leaders instead of depending on the expired leaders.

Please look at how many "poor" bumiputra (orang asli, and other real bumiputra of the land + many more Malay, please also include those born in Malaysia Chinese and Indian) live in the villages, estate, and even in the urban jungle of KL, their needs is more then those "Malay" in other countries!! Why are they thinking about Malays all the time? Don't they care for the Malaysian citizen of other races. There are so many bumiputra in this country are poor besides the Indians and yet the DPM only remembers the Malays. Why then have National Service to integrate all the races at young age? This brooks very badly for a malaysia under the Primiership of Najib. What a crazy wacko idea! Will Malaysia reach out to help Singapore Malay Muslims who are not all millionaires yet. One of the comments says it in the right context, Why not PM Najib put in place a SINGAPORE TYPE ASEAN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SINGAPORE MALAYS ONLY. That way all the Malays who live in Singapore will have scholarships.
What is more interesting is the question WHY ? Why give scholarships to Singapore Malays and not give scholarships to Malaysian Chinese or Indians ? How will helping minority Malays in other countries eg. Fillipines benefit Malaysia or in what manner can Malaysia gain from this utter futility ?
