KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 — Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam has snubbed the invitation by two Umno leaders for him to join Barisan Nasional.
Manikavasagam told The Malaysian Insider he would “live or die” with PKR despite his differences with Selangor's Pakatan Rakyat leadership and he had no intention of jumping ship.
"No thanks," was his response to the invitation from Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib and state opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Mond Khir Toyo.
Manikavasagam said crossing over would betray the Hindraf 5, who have been detained under the Internal Security Act, and voters in Kapar who voted overwhelmingly for PKR on March 8.
The embattled first-term MP, who has come under fire from within his own party for his persistent criticisms against the state PR leadership, admitted problems existed.
Burdened with an overwhelming obligation to the people who voted for change, especially the Indian community, Manikavasagam said he is frustrated this change has been slow in coming.
"I have been vilified in the press, by my own party members, for trying to be a hero to the Indians but are they (critics) going to help the community if I shut up."
Manikavasagam, who has been at the forefront in handling social issues affecting the Indian community for over almost a decade, said he has no intention of changing his confrontational style just because he is now a PKR MP.
In September, he took to task the Selangor Menteri Besar for not going to the ground to visit victims of a freak storm in Klang and more recently he was embroiled in a public argument with Selangor Speaker Teng Chang Khim over the relocation of the bus terminal in Klang.
However, Manikavasagam is aware the open battles in the press are only benefiting BN and is adopting a unilateral ceasefire — for now.

His favorite tag lines "serving the people" and "frustrated this change has been slow" are just hollow when he neglects 85% of the voters who are not Indians. He only fights for one race. We are Malaysians and we must right for all Malaysians, irrespective of color, race, religion and beliefs.
Mani/wang sagam, you are a racist and your only interest is how to regain your investment by multiple of times. You are sickening. Get lost!

No matter what, the indians cannot be worse under Pakatan and that is for sure. Like all malysians, the indians will be given a fair chance to compete, so long as politicians do not hijack the govt's agenda of empowering the peoiple.

There are more important battles ahead than the bus terminal issue.

But, he must also be prepared to sit down and talk with his opponents; and listen to their views. If they are reasonable and sensible, accept them. Differences will always occur ina Party, and even among siblings or parenst and children ina family. But, a man must have a cool head.
Look at Barack Obama, the incoming President. In the heat of Primary and later Presidential elections, he kept his cool. And even now, even though he won against his Democratic rivals, he picked Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State. After the election, he took the good points in Hillary Clinton and picked her.
Again, he picked Joe Biden, to be his running mate, a man known to be controversial. Obama, when he chose him, said that he did not want YES-men ; he wanted a man who was strong and be able to give his views and prove him wrong; and of course, with strong points to win him over!
Now, look at MCA, for example. Though Dr. Chua Choi Lek, won the Deputy Preasident's post, he seemed to have no place in the Cabinet. Why is the MCA President so afraid of him? Of course, Dr. Chua had his sex video scandal exposed. But, did he not bravely tell the world that he was the "actor" ? A lesser would deny everything inspite of strong evidence that he was the one; and would try to hang on to the Health Ministry post. But, no; he resigned all posts. Rare is he! He is one in a million, I dare say.
Is Mr. Ong Tee Keat afraid that Dr. Chua would bring embarrassment to him and his Party of talking out loud and talk out of hand? Was this the main reason why the voters voted against MCA? This failure to say what is right and just; what is justified. Then, MCA did not represent the interest of the people but the interests of themselves!
Remember the memo sent to the Prime Minister and later withdrawn? Was it not a great let-down, a great humiliation ?
Now, back to the Kapar MP. It is the same principle which Obama fought and will fight for. It is the same principle of Dr. Chua. It is the same principle of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim. It is the same principle of Raja Petra Kamaruddin. Justice for all; and fairness for all.
But, if he is strongly against the principles of PR, then he should resign as MP and re-contest and see whether the voters are still with him or against him. The same goes to any MP or State Assembly person. Sad and regrettably to say, so many State Assembly persons in PBS jumped ship and did not resign their seats and re-contest their seats! It is a greater shame on BN leaders for accepting them as comrades ( like the tale of " Ali Baba and the forty thieves " ). Stealing MPs and State Assembly people by devious means is wrong in principle, no matter where the "theft " comes from--BN or PR.
If politicians want to hop, hop by all means, but with the proviso: RESIGN and re-c0ntest the seats!
Some UMNO fellows want to "steal" seats by telling them to hop!
Of course, Anwar Ibrahim is wrong in waiting for hoppers from Sabah and Sarawak. If they want to hop, let them RESIGN first and re-contest the seats! Then hop by all means and witha clear conscience that you did not cheat the voters who voted you in based on the Party!

Resign lah .... no balls, always cry baby. Do your best as MP, Kaparians need help, not buggers like you who always complain.
Remember, you have to earn repect to be a leader; but it looks like u lost it even before you got it.
So buzz off, and disappear. Let some else take over.

Look at every problems as an opportunities and a stepping stone to success. It make you wiser, better wisdom and strengthen you. I am sure that your problems will be settle with your mentri besa, it will only take some time. PR is only a few months old, so new give them time and chance to prove themselves where the formal were there for 50years.
As a human we always faced a lot of problems, but every problem came an go. Be strong and help the people who voted for you (malay, chinese and indian and others) and show compassion to your constituency. We only hope that all your people will be united and be successful. What we want are honest good governance, transparency, no corruption, no race related issue ext... to make malaysia a successfully and rich country. If everybody do well, it is a win-win situation.

They push forward their views and expect others to accept in totto, no matter whether they are crazy and impractical.
So, what should any leader do? Weigh all points of view and ponder over them. If a particular idea is very strong, then accept it It does not matter whether the idea comes from you! As long as the idea is good and is for the common good, just take it. If the idea is not good, then reject it!
Obama, in choosing a running mate, once said that he wanted a man who could give strong ideas and views; and that was why he chose Joe Biden. Prove him wrong; and he would gladly change course and adopt your idea! A strong leader will accept challenges from strong opponents! A weak leader will only pick YES-men ; and thereby, become blinded by false loyalty; and he will be a failure in fulfilling his pledges. Look at the present PM here. He took in most people in the Cabinet who could say "yes, sir " . Finally he would be fooled by these very sycophants whose real aim is to serve themselves, not the people!
So, watch out, voters! Check out those politicians and see where their hearts really lie.

Today, there are more Indian MPs and State Assemblymen than those days under BN. Isn't this a progress itself ? The policies created by UMNO/BN can't be reversed over night. It is a long haul.
