KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 — About 30 members of the Youth and Putera wings of Umno tonight handed a memorandum of protest to the party leadership on the intervention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in party matters.
In the memorandum, the members also protested against the proposal by the chairman of the Umno Diciplinary Board, Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail that the party’s wings be dissolved to curb money politics.
The memorandum was handed to Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak and members of the Supreme Council (MT) before they began their their MT meeting at the Umno headquarters.
A spokesman for the group, Zuraidi Abdul Rahim said the establishment of the MACC had resulted in more party members being detained on corruption charges and members of the commission frequently adopted harsh tactics when questioning suspects.
“The formation of the MACC is not to beat suspects when questioning them. Thirty-nine people have been called up for questioning, the number of those remanded is uncertain but two or three people have lodged police reports. We have proof of the incidents through a copy of the police report lodged by a party member which is attached to the memorandum,” he told reporters at the Menara Tun Hussein Onn lobby here.
The police report dated Jan 28, lodged at the Damansara Police Station by an Umno member from Pahang, claimed that he was beaten on the head, kicked on the ribs by an officer, and was forced to strip and roll over on the floor. Zuraidi said he represented about 2,500 party members throughout the country who hoped there would be no intervention by outsiders especially from the MACC on party matters so that the freedom of expression by party members could be revived. Earlier, they had gathered at the lobby to express their protest against the suggestion by Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen and the establishment of the MACC. — Bernama

The irony of it all is that te MACC is not even truly independent or as poerful as what it should have been, if it were modelled after the Hong Kong body. These UMNO hooligans are trying toshow their senior corrupted leaders that they are already corrupted enough to ste into their shoes.

where is taking money considered to be freedom of expression?
this is such a joke. The MACC was called in because the internal mechanism's had failed.
Getting a taste of their own medicine and already crying.
Will these guys ever learn? Oops, Muhammad Taib and Tamby Chik received enough nominations to contest.
No they won't.
Are they still going to be Pro-ISa after this?

And these nincompoops are the next generation 'leaders' of UMNO?
Ridiculously stupid but then again it reflects exactly the mindset of UMNO & BN in general, in their twisted minds, their party is above the King, Judiciary, Police, ACA, MACC...
Reforms? My foot! The only way to save the country is to wipe them out next election!

Umno is not an human entity. It has Divine Decree for ruling and governing the poor and uneducated Malaysians. How dare the directors of MACC, some of which are Umno members themselves, initiated investigations on the poor hapless Umno members, whose only fault are buying positions with money. Buying positions in Umno, is a strictly party affairs, in which no one, no one has a right to interfere. Just like the time the military junta threw out Sunkyi, it's merely internal affairs.
How dare us Malaysians think that there is corruption in Umno. It's not corruption but merely a buy and sell transaction. There's buyers (division leaders and above) and there are sellers (voters). What's wrong?
Confused Umno

All UMNO goons are pampered to the hilt. Drive big cars, stay in big houses, expansive clothing (shopping in London, Hongkong like Rosmah), eat good food and stay in 5 star hotel. Aren't these the signs of spoilt brats ?
The spoilt brats will complaint if their rights to loot are being encroached ! They even submit memorandum. Tak malu betul.

The commission frequently adopted harsh tactics when questioning suspects are correct and reasonable, you cannot expect them to give to a lot of nice questions. i.e. "how is the weather today, very hot"etc...
The more you youths and putera protested the more the public suspected of your wrong doing. It looks like the old habits are still hunted in umno.
After losing the GE we can assume that you still don't understand what the public wanted.
We want a clean, good governance, transparency, no corruption and rid of racial politic (we pay same amount of income tax). We believe that Malaysia can be a very rich country because we are blessed with a lot of natural resources. if singapore can do it without natural resources; Malaysian ca do it. We need good and honest politicians to management the country.

Change , reinvent, repackage, be transparent they say but those are only lip service and hot air. They are all going down the path of dinosaurs. EXTINCT. Carry on UMNO, remain in the dreamland and dream sweetdream.
