IPOH, Feb 9 — Deputy Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin called for Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin to be banished as he led protests by the Barisan Nasional (BN) faithful here today as part a campaign to label the Pas man a traitor.
About 1,000 mainly Umno Youth members attended the rally here under the watchful eyes of the police, as BN now hopes to shore up support for Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir, who was sworn-in by Sultan Azlan Shah last week to replace Nizar as Perak mentri besar.
Nizar has refused to resign and maintains he is still the legitimate MB.
Speeches by several BN Youth leaders suggested attempts to reverse the perception that BN’s power grab was unconstitutional and pro-Malay. Instead, the speeches portrayed Pakatan Rakyat as anti-Sultan.
The speeches were punctuated by cries of “Hidup Melayu” and “Daulat Tuanku.”
“In the old days, what did we do to those who committed treason?” Khairy asked the crowd at the Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil field here.
The crowd replied “kill him!” as they waved banners with the words “Nizar Penderhaka Melayu Moden (Nizar is the modern day Malay traitor)” but Khairy instead said that “we only ask that they be banished,” referring to Nizar and other PR leaders who have supported his decision.
The crowd started tearing up posters with pictures of Nizar, as Khairy also called for Nizar and Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s titles to be retracted.
Those assembled, joined by several Malay NGOs, and representatives from MCA, MIC and PPP Youth members from Perak, then took a pledge requesting Sultan Azlan Shah to do as Khairy had asked.
Khairy also told the crowd that their position should not be seen as racial as “our friends from MCA, MIC and PPP” are here.
“The anger is not just from Malays but the rakyat as the opposition has broken the principles of the Rukunegara,” the Rembau MP said.
He also called on Umno Youth members to guard the gates to the state secretariat tomorrow as Nizar and his executive councillors are expected to continue to try to report for work.
“If you see the illegal government coming, I order you as deputy Youth chief to do what is necessary,” he said.
Later, when pressed on what is “necessary” by reporters, Khairy said that as the Ipoh police chief had assured him that they would not allow the PR men to enter the premises, Umno Youth would stand down.
“I hold him to his promise. But if they are not able to deliver, then I cannot guarantee their actions due to their anger,” he said.
“This is not a constitutional crisis. This is a crisis of power,” Khairy added, stating that the fact that PR could not relinquish the state government after being ousted through due process showed that they were power-crazy.

Can I ask the police whether a permit was granted for the said protest? If a permit had not been issued, why the hell were they allowed to protest? As a citizen, I strongly condemned the police and demand an explanation. On the other hand, if a permit was issued, I also condemned the police for their double standard, and demand for an explanation why a permit was given for a 1000 strong angry and violent protestors while permits were denied to a 100 or so peaceful candlelight vigillers? Do you expect we citizens to stomach such selective persecution? We have no one to turn to for help. Even the royalty has not heard our cries for justice and fairplay. So you are telling us that as long as it is UMNO's choice, that is the right choice. In case you are not aware, since Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin was thrusted to public limelight following his appointment as Perak Mentri Besar, Malaysians are pleased with his leadership and performance. Although he is from a religous party, he has shown us the true moderate side of PAS and this effectively elevated his party closer to the people. Although there are still plenty of room for improvement for PAS, but to us Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin has made us proud and he gets our support regardless of race and religion.
We are happy to discover a very good leader who let his action speak for himself. Inspite having to work with significant disadvantages due to his PAS having less representatives, Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin has shown us that he has the capability to deal with difficult situation and he is able to work with leaders from various races.
For those UMNO young chiku who were in Ipoh to AMPU the Sultan, we can leave with that as this is what you are best in. But when come to real works, please leave that to Datuk Seri Nizar and his men. You may say what good things about your leaders or the Sultan and we will not stop you but please do not run down our Hero Datuk Seri Nizar.

It is during these trying times that a statesman should surface to calm the people so that common sense can prevail.
Where or where are the statesmen?
Until a Man Of Peace can come forth and lead us out of this quagmire, can someone help keep those who propagate violence out of the way.
Threats have never built bridges.

It makes me wonder whether this KJ guy's degree is real or not. His kurang ajar way makes me think this guy must surely be from Pulau Jerejak and not someone who has studied in Oxford.
His ranting and shouting with his UMNO goons about Malay rights and then turning around and say it is not racial because there are MCA and MIC running dogs present, is illogical, irrational and beyond believe. How can a guy who claims that he studied in Oxford behave in such a despicable manner. Maybe he got his Oxford degree, if it is true, UMNO-style - and that is, through devious and dubious means.
Lastly he thinks he is the modern day Hang Tuah, but the truth is, he is a joke and a real wolf in sheep clothing, as they say.

It looks like the script and the response was well rehearsed before it was brought up as road show sandiwara. Now read this again: - “In the old days, what did we do to those who committed treason?” Khairy asked the crowd at the Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil field here. The crowd replied “kill him!” as they waved banners with the words “Nizar Penderhaka Melayu Moden (Nizar is the modern day Malay traitor)”-
It is very sad indeed that a bright and intelligent guy like Khairy, who aspires for top national leadership, should stoop so low to fan the flame of fire to incite people for mere political gain.

I appreciate the above report. It tells me the other side of the story.
However i would like to point out that this article is lacking in its objective tone. The whole report revolves around words strung together to reflect anger and disgust. The whole flow of the read is melody that culminates in despair.
I believe that your a very empathetical writer, overtly sensitive to injustice, pain and despair. it is here where the line is drawn, between a writer and a reporter. A writer's duty is to express, reflect, paint and depict his reflections of society. A writer is always the rebel, the one who cannot see perfection unless faced by divinity itself. A writer is as light as a falling petal, drawn and pushed by human winds of feeling. You are a writer. A frustrated one, as the pain in your piece reflects how much more you want to express. You have to suppress every ounce of emotion that rakes through your heart as you watch the struggle.
A journalist however, needs to be a dualist. On one hand , un uncaring and remote drifer, whose curiosity drives him, on the other, a sensitive child who can't help to ask why?
It is unfortunate that one rarely comes across either of these extremes. In conclusion, i believe that the media is not above the society it depicts, but below it. The media should be as pure as one's own reflection in a pool of still water. Malaysian Insider has the opportunity of becoming the reflection of the truth in Malaysian politics, but emotions need to be suppressed for this to happen.

exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within
mere seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image
has been processed and the data is stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL
database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his
Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he
prints out a full-colour, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized
HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the farmer and says, "You
have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

Can you just imagine if this face is the Prime Minister of Malaysia twenty years down the road? I for one have always agreed with Tun Dr. Mahathir since he uttered the words "Siapa tu Khairy?"
Khairy states that his "friends from MCA, MIC, PPP are here too?" Hmm... which top gun of MCA or any self-respecting chinese for that matter would risk "face" to be in such a gathering? MIC's Semi-value habuk pun tak dak. PPP is dead.
The gathering is a racist show of force and samseng-ness. The uttering of "Killing Nizar" is highly inappropriate and very uncalled for.
Clear contrast from the Pakatan Rakyat gatherings that are multi-racial, peaceful, and socially uplifting. We all, the Rakyat, clearly know that it is time for PR to be the new legitimate government to bring Malaysia to achieve its goals for 2020, and make our country a prime example of the uphill battle for truth justice and democracy.

Now KJ and UMNO seem to be supporting the Sultanate. We cant remember what KJ said when there was a protest outside the Trengganu palace when the King refuse to appoint the Menteri Besar of PM's (UMNO's)choice.The protestors even called "wild: names onto the King.Where was KJ then? Why didnt KJ protect the Sultan then? It appears when the Sultan in against UMNO or BN..they attack the Rulers.

How can we question Khairy, he "graduated" from OX-pot uni with flying colors ---a lot of red mix with few blues! He eat plenty of donkey (D) and seafood (f) when he was in OX-pot. Is better then many who only get cacing(c) lah.
