KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — Just one day after being suspended from the Perak legislative assembly, Menteri Besar Datuk Zambry Kadir today took his case to a gathering of more than 5,000 Barisan Nasional Youth members here by vowing to defend the institution of the monarchy.
The gathering was to demonstrate the loyalty of BN Youth members to the Malay Rulers.
Speaking to thousands of party members clad in yellow t-shirts, the Pangkor assemblyman warned the Pakatan Rakyat leadership not to undermine the Malay Rulers.
“We warn them not to go against the Rulers, do not play up the anti monarchy sentiment. We will defend the institution of the Malay Rulers,” said Zambry to shouts of Daulat Tuanku (Long Live The King).
He said the events in Perak were unprecedented and an embarrassment to the people.
“A man was willing to speak up against the Sultan, saying ‘patik mohon derhaka’. For the sake of power he was willing to commit treason against the Sultan,” said Zambry referring to Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin who claims that he is still the legitimate Menteri Besar of Perak.
The state got into a constitutional crisis early this month after Sultan Azlan Shah refused to accept Nizar’s advice to dissolve the legislative assembly but chose to appoint a new BN government led by Zambry.
Nizar has also filed a suit at the Kuala Lumpur High Court seeking a declaration that Zambry’s appointment was illegal.
The Perak crisis worsen yesterday after the state assembly speaker V Sivakumar announced the suspension of Zambry and six state executive councillors.
The suspension is seen as an attempt by the PR to force the dissolution of the assembly to pave the way for a state-wide election, but seen by BN leaders as a sign of disrespect to the Sultan.

First and foremost, removing the royals' immunity to the law is one of Mahathir's legacy I deem worthy of praise. No one, including royalty should be above the law and constitution. Just wanna lay it out there how I roll.
By using the monarchy as an excuse to justify their unlawful and unconstitutional take over of Perak government, clearly Zambry and Co is running out of valid ideas.
The Sultan of Perak clearly crossed the constitution lines in his decision earlier. If the speakers move is deemed challenging the monarchy, so be it I say. The battle is clearly opposition + rakyat vs UMNO + Sultan.
It's about time we show who is essentially king makers: RAKYAT!
Dissolve ADUN and let the people vote.

I find it ironic that UMNO has come out as the defender of the honour of the Royalty and lambasted various Pakatan personalities to the point of suggesting banishment and even execution for treason. I think Zambry and UMNO Youth need to read up on their own history and their treatment of the Royalty. If I recall correctly, it was in fact, Dr M, and by extension, UMNO that called for the curtailment of the rights of the Royal houses in the constitutional crisis of 1993. As Zambry and all his Exco plus 3 frogs have been suspended from the State Assembly, Pakatan now have the majority back. So MB Nizar can go to the Palace and ask the Sultan to reappoint him back. The Sultan, using the same process as before, can ask Zambry to resign and if he doesn't the position is considered vacant. Lets hope the Sultan is consistent in his interpretation of Article 16(6) of the Perak Constitution. Whoever has the majority of members in the State Assembly can form the govt.No need to wait for sitting of Assembly, can do it via press conference and press statements. Thats how Najib did it previously.

The young generation don't like the way of UMNO/BN too arrogant and tamak kuasa. we look for more profesional in PR which more moderate and tolorence. They UMNO/BN never learn which refer to the changes of Malaysia Politic Senario.
Coz, other then this elite UMNO/BN, they didn't enjoy what so call NEP. we can see only all of us as rakyat have to straggle day and day. And they keep on bising sana sini just maintain the power of money.
