KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — Wanita Umno head Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz wants members of the movement to forget temporarily the campaign for the party election in March and instead concentrate on the campaign for the by-elections in Bukit Gantang in Perak and Bukit Selambau in Kedah.
“To me, they (the by-elections) are priority, and I’ve switched off my mind on the contest for party post and I’m focusing on the contests for the two by-elections,” she told reporters after chairing the Wanita Umno exco meeting which lasted about two hours, here today.
She said that the campaign for the party election should not be “too extreme” to the extent that members were “not talking to their rivals”.
Rafidah, who is being challenged by Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil for the post of Wanita Umno head in the March party election, said she was not concerned about the challenge because the election was being held every three years.
What was of greater concern to her was the political developments in the country, she said.
“I am concerned about the BN (Barisan Nasional), concerned about Umno, we seem to be losing ground everywhere.
“It is about how to win back the grassroots support and how to convince young people like you that we are the one, we, Barisan Nasional, that will eventually be responsible for the future of this country,” she told the reporters.
She also said that it was not fair to link a particular leader with certain candidates in the election.
Rafidah said the meeting today was called specifically to discuss preparations for the two by-elections.
She also commented on the political crisis in Perak which was getting worse.
She said Wanita Umno decided to condemn the actions of the opposition leaders headed by former Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin “who was being disrespectful to the Sultan of Perak and breached the state constitution”. — Bernama

If Umno and BN still show its immaturity by descending to racism and fanaticism, then how focus[by-elections] is is of no use.Umno when come to elections, whether its own party election or otherwise was and still using racial issues to gain support. Slogans like " Hidup Melayu","Jangan Cabar Hak Melayu","Jangan Cabar Ketuanan Melayu" etc.. always reflects Umno's mentality and its psychology.
Umno and BN need not convince people especially the young by just saying "we are one" and then they win the elections.People now are more mature and have more wisdom than "leaders" who claimed that they are "leaders" of some race.
It is the people who has maturity and wisdom that eventually responsible for the future of this country through ballot-box. Malaysian must not permit any race-based "leader" to take advantage of them and gain support by using any form of political emotional blackmail.
People now want to see leaders who dare to shout slogans like "Hidup Malaysia","Cinta dan Sayang Malaysia".Such slogans reflect maturity and responsibility of a leader who claimed they are true Malaysian and love Malaysia.
Dare or can Umno or BN change? Let the right people decide the right future of Malaysia.

Rafidah, Muhammad Taib, Rahim Tamby Chik, all nominated for post in UMNO!
Go figure
It she doesn't care about the post, she should just withdraw from the contest then.

To say that only BN has the privilege, however, is arrogant.

Wow, really easy for someone of the way out to say and give this advice. Like her, BN time is up too.
For someone who wants to clinch to her position, is it really to serve the rakyat or to further amass wealth?
Be End.

Umno should stop the action of capturing back the lost state as it will create the mood of haters to the rayat. come GL13 umno is as good as dead.
By buying the assembly man or borrow the power of AG, ACA will not help but it create haters, that rayat do not expect BN to take such desperate action.
With internet rayat is connected especially the youngsters. so the 1990 period is gone and will not be back. Umno must change to win back the youth group, come 2012 it is the youth that decide who rule the federal.

Desperate People, at Desperate Times, will RESORT to Desperate Henious Actions even if it means “Destroying” their “Honourable Family Legacy”, their own “MALAY MUSLIM HADHARI” party “UMNO” beyond “Redemption”, their Own Kind, this country & its Rayaat !
Through “Devine” intervention, UMNO, its Ketetuanan Leaders & their Lapdogs are now “Outdoing & Destroying” each other with their “Power, Greed & Henious Crimes” through "Gutter Politics" & their "Law of the Jungle".
Remember “What goes round, will come round to these Desperate UMNO Ketetuanan Beggars” - Past, Present & Future.
The “Opressors” will “FAIL” & God Almighty will ensure “Justice” will be done.

So, now if you ask why UMNO is losing ground, you should ask yourself really. No one made you follow a "horse" that took our country to the "swamphs" and "sewers". You have really overstayed your welcome; Like some of your other colleagues. Isn't it time you leave? Do you really want to "make" some more? Isn't your plunder enough when you were part of that bunch on board that "pirate ship" UMNO helmed then by that rascally "captain" Mr Mahathir?
Aye, shiver me timbers lady! You have made enough. You should go.

Why not she quit to have more time to consolidate her dying party ?
