Tok guru is correct. As far as muslim understand Allah is the one and only, it doesn't metter who else would like to use the term. The Quran has strongly define Allah which different from other gods:
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him (Quran 112:1-4)
Why UMNo hate the used of Allah for other religion. Are they not confident enough with Islam? They suppose to encourage the used of Allah even in English Bible. The Cristian will realised the religion from the same root.

Not allowing non Muslims to use the world "Allah" is just plain religious bigotry. Even the place where Islam originated both Muslims and non Muslims used the word "Allah" to refer to god and the Muslims there are not confused. I dont buy the argument that Malaysian Muslims can be confused over the use of the word "Allah" or there is a hidden agenda to convert Muslims here to another religion. Why are the Malaysian Muslims letting themselves subject to such patronising by a few Muslim NGOs.

From 1511 to 1957 the Malays have never been confused or threatened by conversion. But now UMNO orchestrated ploys to divert attention and portray as defenders of religion.

I have worked in the Middle East, Indonesia and other Muslim majority countries. Other religions are freely allowed to use the word All Mighty Allah. No Muslims in these countries got confused. In my old days in my kampung where majority were Malays, other races use the word Tuan Allah when communicating with each. Non of my Malay neighbours were confused.

Now we are confused..how this issue can be confusing.

the enlightened prime minister declared that a review will be done,no increase

Then the question of the word Allah used by The Herald Catholic news magazine
arose,an announcement was made that approval has been granted provided a stamp
with the wordings For Christians Newspaper only...then,our stupid clown Home Affair
minister said no approval was given...

What is Malaysia coming too...simple decisions and many more eg.Sime Darby-IJN deal,
Sime Darby-Airasia Labu airport...today approved,tomorrow cancelled..no wonder there
is no sense of direction from the top,flip flopping here,frogs hopping there..

I call on all Christian Sabahans and Sarawakians to vote UMNO and Barisan out of office in your respective state or else you will not be able to use the word Allah anymore. Even an Islamic party like PAS allowed the use of Allah by Non-Muslims.

I hope Nik Aziz makes it as the last PM under the RAHMAN theory (or conspiracy). I stayed in Kelantan during Barisan Nasional rule and I remember that even the churches were told not to put up their cross. Much later, when I returned to Kota Bahru, under PAS rule, I saw this big foam cut out of the Nativity scene displayed in front of the Catholic Church. I asked some of my friends how it was possible,and they told me that PAS was not as narrow minded as BN.
Later I met some Hindu friends and they happily told me that they are now given permission to build their Hindu temple in Kota Bahru which they had been asking for so long from BN. Befrore that, Hindus had to go all the way to Tumpat to pray every Friday. Under PAS, they were allowed to have their own temple in Kota Bahru. PAS does not go around breaking Hindu temples like how the Barisan Nasional government does.

Look at it this way; adherents of other faiths have no qualms about being confused and converted to Islam in a reciprocal way when they use the word in their publications.

True muslims who can see beyond racial and religious politics should know better than to fall for this low political ploy to gather support for what is essentially an immoral regime. It is just the usual divide-and-rule tactics from their dirty tricks department.

Nik Aziz's remark would definitely raise respect of non-muslim towards Islam. Liberal Islam leaders are really good and welcome for unity in Malaysia, not those of UMNO-Islam, seen to be extreme...which have been misusing Islam's values for political gains.

Mengapa rakyat Kelantan akan terus memilih PAS untuk mengurus kehidupan mereka di Kelantan? Anda perhatikan kehebatan rakyat Kelantan di bawah:
1- Agama adalah nyawa dan maruah diri mereka. Anda akan melihat bagaimana Islam terlalu mengawal pergerakan dan tingkah laku mereka dalam segala aspek. Oleh kerana PAS dikenali lama sebagai parti ugama, sedang UMNO pula dikenali sebagai parti dunia, sekular, kuasa, wang dan dendam, maka mudah sekali rakyat Kelantan memilih PAS tanpa syak dan ragu.

3- Politik adalah kopi ‘O’ rakyat Kelantan. Di sini, kopi diteguk di kedai - kedai makan untuk melawaskan perdebatan dan perbincangan perihal politik setempat dan tanah air. Dengan kesedaran politik yang tinggi, di samping isu - isu negara yang tidak menyokong kerajaan BN, adalah tidak sukar untuk rakyat Kelantan terus mengundi PAS lagi.

4- Pembanguna fizikal di Kelantan tidak meruntuhkan binaan rohani sebagaimana begitulah senarionya di negara kita. Di Malaysia, kesima nafsu terhadap pembangunan fizikal telah meruntuhkan jiwa, akhlak dan ugama. Di Kelantan, kerancakan pembangunan fizikal tidak kehilangan arah dan kawalan. Malah, rakyat sedar bahawa kerajaan PAS menerapkan isi dan keberkatan di dalam pembangunan fizikal.

5- Berakar dari bawah, segenap lapisan rakyat merasai kewujudan sebuah kerajaan berkebajikan yang cuba melaksanakan amanah kuasa dengan kehendak ugama. Sentuhan hangat daripada pihak penguasa dan rasa selamat dan dilindungi menjadi satu daya yang kuat untuk mereka terus memberi sokongan dan dukungan kepada PAS untuk terus memerintah Kelantan.

6- PAS kian diyakini kekuatan dan kemampuannya. 18 tahun memerintah Kelantan menjadikan PAS kuat dan mampu. Akhirnya kekuatan dan kemampuannya diyakini dan diterima rakyat tanpa rasa kekok, ragu dan rimas. PAS terbukti berjaya membuktikan ISLAM BOLEH!

7- Rekod PAS bersih daripada penyelewengan dan rasuah oleh BPR sepanjang pemerintahannya. Ini secara kasarnya menakjubkan kerana rakyat sering menyaksikan medan politik negara yang penuh comot dengan rasuah dan penyelewengan.

8- PAS, khususnya jentera pemudanya adalah rakan anak muda. Adalah diyakini anak - anak muda Kelantan begitu selesa dengan kepimpinan pemuda PAS di setiap peringkat yang sentiasa turun padang memberi khidmat dan bantuan bagi memenuhi keperluan dan kebajikan mereka.

9- Hubungan baik dan intim antara kerajaan negeri dengan istana. Istana Kelantan yang menjadi payung agama dan rakyat jelata sentiasa di hati rakyat. Apabila hubungan di antara kedua - duanya dilihat baik dan selesa, rakyat Kelantan akan turut rasa selesa dan sejahtera.

10- UMNO terlalu lemah. UMNO tiada pemimpin contoh, tiada pemimpin muda harapan, tiada jasa besar sebagai pembangkang, tiada janji yang menyelerakan rakyat dan tiada sebab untuk diberi peluang dan harapan. Di hadapan, rakyat melihat kecelakaan bakal mengiringi UMNO jika mereka melangkah masuk ke tampuk Kota Darul Naim sekal lagi.

Itulah 10 jika anda mahukan 10 yang sempurna dan ringkas. Asasnya, PAS lebih mendekati kehendak ugama, sedang UMNO hanyalah memperlakukan ugama sekehendak nafsunya. Asasnya, PAS lebih baik persembahannya berbanding UMNO. Asasnya, rakyat Kelantan cukup matang untuk menghukum kezaliman dan kepalsuan.

In order to try to regain their support, those BN political leaders are trying to use whatever remaining sensitive issues left in order to make them believe that the BN leaders are fighting for their rights and causes. What issues are still left untouched? First the Ketuahan Melayu, then the false accusation on Teresa on stopping the Izan call for prayer, follow by insinuation that disagreement with the Sultan is equavalent to an insult to the Malays, and now the use of Allah by other faiths will confuse the Muslims. After this what else???? From all these it look like BN will never change. What the BN leaders promised to the people for better governing of the country after suffered the humilitaing lost in the last election will never able materialise since until today they are still focusing on the wrong things, and not on what they have promised to the rakyat. What a pity!!! When the Titanic was sinking, there was nothing you can do to save it. Similarly when BN sinks, we only wish it could sink faster so that the people with the new governemnt could be given a free hand to govern without all these subversive activites going on. What BN does exactly reflect a drowning man in the sea - futilely grasping to whatever to stay afloat.

The muslim groups must think their people are so stupid that they cant differiante religions. One they have been practising all their lifes and some of their fellow Malaysians practice. Give your people enough credit - stop spoon feeding them and let them draw their own conclusions. Allah btw may means God in Arabic so what is the problem again????

If Niz Aziz or Hadi is the Prime Minister of Malaysia he will prohibited the word 'Allah' to be used by Non Muslim even to have the Hudud law to these people. Malaysia should be very carefull not to fall into PAS traps. Dont be a 'rat' to be 'trap'. The problem with this issue is many Malay Muslim still living like a katak bawah tempurung. Not all malays opposed to the used of Allah by non muslim. These Malays most of them have study abroad, travell to middle east and other countries, surf web for 'ilmu' and attend 'majlis ilmu' . These malays knews the facts and are ready to accept it. No doubt the goverment should allow the used the word Allah by the christians to address their god but the goverment and Majlis Agama Islam should take the necessary steps and action to educate the Malays of the different meaning of Allah by the Christian.The differences between Christian Allah agains Muslim 'Allah'. With globlasation and non boundry influx of informations it is difficult for the goverment not to call a 'spade' a 'spade'. When you travel to Mesir' or other Arabic countries you come accross people greeting you with 'salam' and you greet them the same before realising they are heading to the church. Defending Islam is not by defending the word 'Allah' being used by the Christian. Defending Islam is defending the 'IMAN' of the muslim by education and practising it. If the christian believe that Allah is their god, why not just convert to Islam?

If it's PAS ruling this country, I'd have no problems with anyone using the word Allah (in a good way, that is) because, well, at least they're sharing the same God with me, even if we believe in Him in different ways. And if PAS is the government of M'sia, I don't even mind if religious preachers are allowed to preach even to Muslims. Why? Because PAS will do it the way Islam has taught us - don't force religion to anyone but spread your beliefs in a peaceful way. I am also confident that a PAS gov would enhance religious education for Muslims (without forcing it onto non-Muslims like BN is doing) so then Muslim children will have better and stronger understanding of Islam that they won't be easily swayed. And it would be up to every individual, Muslim or not, to decide on what they want to believe. And I also don't care because PAS would set up enough reasonable laws on murtad so that if a Muslim wants to leave Islam, the murtad laws will apply to him and all relevant Islamic laws. So, why stop others from preaching? It's their right and Muslims would have other mechanisms to counter the missionaries. Don't force our belief onto others, but we can sure enforce rules on our own.

Unfortunately, the BN gov is not PAS. They don't care enough about Islamic education - they twist it for their own purposes. They care more about "Malay" than "Islam". They force "Islam" on every citizen, Muslims or non-Muslim and they don't even know much about Islam themselves (it is forbidden for a Muslim to deface or destroy the religious place of other religion - HIGHLY FORBIDDEN but BN destroys them anyway). And BN don't care about teaching Islam to Muslim kids - instead they worry about elements seeping into Muslim lifestyle, they worry about missionaries preaching but don't do anything about it. So all of us will always be in contrast to each other - we keep on having unreconciled differences among races, religion, etc. Divide and conquer, eh? Their white masters have taught the BN well. We will all remain colonised by the British as long as we keep on voting for the BN. As long as they are in power, we will never be free and I will continue to be suspicious of the Herald using Malay and the word Allah in their publication.

I won't be suspicious if it is PAS in power because I know they would do it right, or at least they will try their best.

The only thing confusing is the government's take on this. Flip flop all the way . It seemed the by elections are the real reasons. The ban comes into prominent in the Permatang Pauh , then maybe relaxed for Batang Ai and then they realized that they may loose the Bukits. This is total stupidity.

Well, i think we have the 'funniest' government in the region if not the world. Ministers not knowing what they are saying and are still able to live in denial thinking that what they do is acceptable by the rakyat. Remember the show 'kids say the darndest things?'. Our ministers are better than that, but still I don't understand why is our movie industry is suffering, any takers?

It should be translated into many languages and books. It is not an offence to call the word of Allah differently. As long as it is full heartly and meaning is there. How does orang bisu pray then? How does those people with vocal cord problem say it then? The idea, it has to make more people understand the faith, build the interest and converting. Otherwise how to expand Islam? Tok Guru is very intelligent, smart and farsighted.

Malaysia is no Saudi nor Indonesia, infact Malaysia is truly unique because in no where do you find a Constitution that stipulates a specific religion for a specific race criterion.

Yes, it is only in Malaysia that a Malay must be a Muslim, that is a prerequisite.

That is probably why matters relating to Malaysian version of Islam is so sensitive, because the "udang sebalik batu" is the catch of religion to political perpetual dominance strategy.

Nik Aziz seems to be above religious polemics and parochial interests; he is sees Islam with a global perspective, open, honest, wise and unpretentious.

For all the faults that PAS may carry as a party, I must admit there are a few good men in the party, nonetheless, or at least it seems to me, I may be wrong, of course, as always.

Rini, please elaborate on your views because I, as Christian, can't see how Tok Guru Nik Aziz could have made a clearer (or a more balanced and heartwarming) statement of his views. Unless you are suggesting that he is 2-faced, it seems to me that he is very considerate in stating that he won't interefere - how can he interefere? What power has he to interefere more? What more do you think he could do? He seems to have already stated his views forthrightly - in opposition to the decision of the Home Minister. It is now for others, including you who have the power, to show where they stand. You too might be able to make a difference. Please stand up and make the case you believe in - help me understand your comments and point of view. Ultimately, we should all vote at the next opportunity/election for whoever we feel/think can best represent us. In the meantime, if 'our' leaders are wrong or are not thinking or talking straight, we should point it out and hold them to account. If you could be Tok Guru Nik Aziz what would you say differently from what has been reported?

Rini, may I just add that perhaps Tok Guru Nik Aziz's "style" is indeed 2-sided, in that he looks at the issue/situation from 'both' (all) sides. Firstly, he has a personal duty, actually perhaps a moral obligation, to voice his considered opinion as effectiovely as possible - to help steer thinking in what he considers to be the right direction, to prevent wrong-headed actions - to act, in other words as 'his brothers keeper'. And then he also realises that in this life God allows men to make many decisions, even on behalf of others - as the government does. So, having discharged his first duty (to speak the truth) he leaves it to those with the power to make their decision. The rope that they have can be used to bind others or indeed to hang themselves! It is entirely their decision. Ultimately, God will judge us all.

If people will still be "blinded and confused" then you should really blame those responsible for 'our' poor education - why, after 52 years of Independence, they haven't yet taught the population at large how to think properly. I believe many people 'woke-up' from political coma, opened their eyes, thought about it and acted on their new-found beliefs and exercised their rights on 8/3/08. I also think there are many who choose not to think for themselves and who have, whether deliberately or unwittingly, surrendered themselves to being dumb sheep.

Do you know the children's story entitled "The Emperor's New Clothes"? It tells how blindness and confusion were exposed by innocent children who simply voiced out what they actually saw - instead of being hoodwinked or conditioned into toeing the politically correct line.

If UMNO announce that its ok to use Allah by the Christians.. the first person or Party that will jump will be yours truly Nik Aziz and PAS. They will lambast UMNO for being too weak to defend Islam and the Muslims.

Now that UMNO said that Allah is only for the Muslim and the whole nations started protesting about it guessed who stood up to defend the People? Nik Azizzzzzz ..BUT please read between the lines bro..he was non committal when he made the statement that Allah can be used by the Christian.

TO DANIEL KC LIM...For your info I am a MUSLIM Malay. Way back in the 50s the malays and the chinese, ndians, Hindus, Christians and even some Jews live in harmony with no problem relating to religion and color. We respect each other. Only lately during this bloody goon leadership i.e AAB the issue of religion, color and creed become serious and bad.

Of course those who hated UMNo / Bn will point their fingers at this party withour realising that the Opposition namely PAS that started it all in a very very nice way.

In politics, anything goes as long as the Party is look upon as popular and defender of the majority. Sadly UMNO/BN fall into this trap set up by PAS and Co.

So when this issue of ' Allah ' surfaced and UMNO stated that only the Muslims are allowed ( they thought by announcing this they are able to neutralise PAS ) immediately PAS thanks to their so called spiritual leader Nik Aziz took the oppurtunity to say ' nothing wrong for the Christains to use Allah ' ( period )

Now if all of you are brave enough to press Nik Aziz to state it clearly that the word ' Allah ' can be used by the Protestants and catholics, do you think he will say "YES" simply ? Bullshit !! For sure the stauchn Muslim of PAS will not allow that !!!

Why not we get Mr Karpal Singh to face Nik Aziz and ask him to repeat LOUD AND CLEAR THAT THE CHRISTIANS CAN USE THE WORD ALLAH TOO.

Rini, I (almost) admire your tenacity and willingness to be the lone voice of 'caution' whilst everyone else seems to be falling over themselves in praise of Nik Aziz.

If you are right, that he cannot be relied upon to be perfectly tolerant, fair and moderate, then should I perhaps consider telling myself/reminding others that Adolph Hilter also enjoyed a similar popularity in Germany before WW2, as Nik Aziz seems to have won now - and then watch his actions carefully?

But I must ask: If BN/UMNO can go bad, why can PAS not change for the better - even in response to the BN rot - under the spiritual leadership of Nik Aziz?

We have certainly had enough of hypocrites and crooked politicians.

Can We Use Allah in the Bahasa Malaysia Bible?

By all means you are most welcome. Such a beautiful word and most accurate to refer The Almighty God according to ISlam. SubhanAllah .. MasyaAllah the Christians believers in Malaysia and Indonesia particularly(leave out the middle east because Allah is God in their arabic language) do believe in Muslim God Allah s.w.t. and thats why they vehemently stress to be allowed to use Allah in the Malaysian and Indonesian bible. I love u Christians better than the Jews. So thoughtful, i guess the word Tuhan(Melayu) and Gusti(Indonesia)are not linguistically accurate to be referred as God in your bible or i personally think u need to engage a professional translator to translate the bible to bahasa malaysia and indonesia or u will end up with other new Christians dominants and sects soon.
And i would suggest a new name for the Christians(non arabic descent ) as Christian Hadhary cos they so much love to use Arabic language in their Bahasa Malaysia and Indonesia bible translations. Peace be upon u. And please use Salam when u greet the fellow Muslims so that one day we will share the same masjid for prayers. Bi iznillah.
