SHAH ALAM, March 3 — The Selangor government took another swipe today at Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for his apparent “ignorance of law" in relation to the non declaration of benefits he received from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB).
Last week, the state disclosed that the state investment arm had never declared ‘benefits in kind’ including cars, holidays and gifts, provide for staff, to the Internal Revenue Board (IRB).
As the former chairman of PNSB, Dr Mohd Khir was provided with a Toyota Harrier and driver by the state subsidiary.
The former mentri besar, in an interview with Berita Harian last Friday, said the matter (non-declaration) was ‘a standard procedure’.
“If I paid tax on the car it would mean a double payment to the IRB because PNSB was also paying tax for it.”
Today, the political secretary of the Selangor mentri besar Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad attacked Dr Mohd Khir for his ignorance.
“His statement shows his shallow understanding, as the former mentri besar, in administrating the state government and subsidiaries.”
Nik said officials from the IRB had confirmed yesterday that all ‘benefits in kind’ received must be declared in the EA forms and there are no exceptions, even for senior staff of PNSB.
“Does Dr Mohd Khir even know the meaning of ‘benefits in kind’?
“If he doesn’t it’s very shameful, since he was mentri besar for two terms, or he could just be trying to avoid taking responsibility for the offence.” said Nik Nazmi.
He added Selangor was still evaluating all state subsidiaries to ensure they are transparent and responsible.

very hard for MACC to act. check out the interview with that MACC head Ahmad Said in The Star a few days ago. Said that MACC cannot open back Toyol's case because there is 'no new evidence' on the case and Toyol had been interrogated on this before. This means that ACA (back then) knew about all this before BUT Toyol was still free to go. Very, very suspicious circumstances, I say... It's a wonder though, with all these allegations being bombarded by PR, Toyol has remained very quiet.

Why dilute it when you can concentrate all your energy and attention in getting just ONE strong major case to put this guy down and behind bars once and for all? Concentrate all your energy and all your resources - employ private investigators, forensic accountants or auditors or even to the extent of paying for information and evidences.

khir toyo should have just admitted that he has made a mistake. he has set a very bad example to the ordinary citizens of Malaysia. Non declaration of taxable benefits and evasion of taxes is a very serious offence. Why is the IRB keeping mum on this? Swift action should have been taken, at the very least a letter demanding an explanation from Khir and the other senior executives of PNSB. But of course the double standards remain applied in this case as in other similar cases.

This is the funniest argument I ever heard from someone as calibre as Toyol. Every employer pay tax to IRB. If what Toyol claim is correct, then all the employees in Malaysia does not need to pay tax anymore, because our employer has already paid the tax. If we pay, then it will be double taxing. Isn't it, Toyol?

YB Khalid beware, it seem there is a new disease is inflicting past MB of Selangor. The disease is "LOSS OF BRAIN MATTER, INGNORANT!". Khir Toyo as with Muhd Mohd Taib have lost their marble. Both of them plead ignorant when confronted with accusation of abuse of power. Remember The infamous millions in the suitcase, Mohd Mohd Taib said he's ignorant of the Australian law brought about by his lack of ability to understand English ( Mohd Mohd Taib must be ignorant of the meaning of UMNO then, since he doesn't understand english...poor boy!). Khir Toyo, the same inflicted with the disease claims ignorant of the taxation law ( "I didn't study taxation during my dentistry lesson, I hate numbers" he may say). As luck would have it, YB khalid is not from UMNO, so there's a chance he may escape the disease as it's know only UMNO members are descended from neanderthal and brain damaged Mat Rempit who are prone to the disease.

Khir Toyo ignorant of tax laws? That's like saying I didn't think barrelling down Federal Highway at 130km/h was wrong!
Like any criminal worth their salt, the law is the first thing on their mind.
Only criminals choose to ignore them and hope not to get caught.
Do you seriously think that this is his first time he is putting his John Hancock on a "Borang B"?
I sure hope he does not try to use "I just signed what's been prepared for me" excuse. If so, there is a juicy contract in my hands I'd like him to pen his name to :-)

In this case I've overpaid my taxes for the last few years.... I demand to have my taxes refund back as I have declared my company car as benefits in kind in my EA! If he's not paying taxes for this then why should I.

Since Khir Toyol said this is Standard Procedure not to report on the ‘benefits in kind’, IRS should conduct thorough checks nationwide on all current & EX UMNO MBs and tax all these corrupted culprits on their long overdues.

The ex-MB of Selangor should be reminded that he boasted that in the General Election there would be ZERO Opposition! When the results came out, it was ZERO to his tenure as MB of Selangor!
Now he says that he need not pay tax for "benefits in kind" . It looks more like ZERO tax for "benefits in kind" So, his Zero-Opposition appears to be ZERO tax!
His grade in the Report Card as MB is ZERO!
