KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — For Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his alleged links with the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial just will not go away.
Today, influential blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin put up on his website a police cautioned statement from Sirul Azhar Umar, who is a co-accused in the murder trial of the Mongolian woman, detailing how he and co-accused Azilah Hadri were expecting to be paid between RM50,000 and RM100,000 to “settle” the matter.
On the same day, French newspaper Liberation also published a story detailing grisly details of how Altantuya was allegedly killed.
According to the “cautioned statement” published by Raja Petra, Sirul claims Azilah told him of a payment of between RM50,000 and RM100,000.
But it is the article in the French newspaper which is particularly damaging to Najib’s image, and which will not be welcome as he prepares to take over the leadership of Umno and become Malaysia’s sixth prime minister at the end of the month.
The article in the Liberation details how Altantuya allegedly begged for her life before she was shot.
According to Liberation, Altantuya was allegedly shot on the left side of her face, and a second time when her assailants noticed her hand was still moving.
The newspaper says it obtained the information from a “cautioned statement” which had been leaked to its writer.
Altantuya was eventually stripped of her clothes, and explosives were placed on different parts of her body. Her assailants then allegedly set off the explosives.
But these were not the parts of the article which were particularly damaging to Najib.
The newspaper claims that Najib had indeed met with Altantuya, who was the mistress of Abdul Razak Baginda, his close aide and associate, in Paris in 2005.
A photograph was allegedly taken showing the three in a Paris nightclub, the Liberation said without providing any evidence.
The Liberation also suggested that Abdul Razak had been Najib’s intermediary for arms purchases.
In October 2006, the newspaper claims that Altantuya was informed that the commission paid by Armaris, a Spanish company involved in Malaysia’s acquisition of three submarines for one billion euros (RM4.7 billion), had been deposited in a bank account in Malaysia.
The commission of 114 million euros was allegedly paid into the account of Perimekar, a company Razak controlled.
Altantuya then allegedly flew to Kuala Lumpur to demand her share of the commission, which was to have been US$500,000.
The Liberation provided no documentary evidence of the sensational details.
But the resurfacing of these links with the Altantuya murder appears designed to embarrass Najib.
Najib has consistently denied any involvement in the murder and has also said he had never met the woman.
But the issue just will not go away, and has been used by rivals to damage his credibility and has proven to be a significant liability for the ruling Barisan Nasional government.
The Shah Alam High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Azilah and Sirul on April 9.

The consensus amongst right thinking Malaysians I believe ... is that Najib MUST NOT become Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Just look at the havoc and violation of our democracy, law, legislation and constitution as a result of Perak's coup d'etat masterminded by Najib. He's just a deputy but seems to me he has more power than Badawi now.
The damage Najib will do to the country leading to GE13 ... I cannot begin to imagine. This man will be worst than Mahathir. If we can survive till GE13, let us pray a new Malaysia will be born where this dark chapter of 50 years of UMNO can be laid to rest.

I tend to believe RPK was locked away NOT for nothing. I also believe that THEY are so keen to put RPK away also NOT for no ulterior reasons.

Any parents out there who has children, imagine how despair it must be for Dr Shaariibuu Setev. Beloved daughter got murdered on foreign country, and justice was never be presented.
The only they Altantuya's dad will see justice and really really put this behind (it will never go away, but hopefully sorrow and pain gradually fade away) is that, whoever involved, be it the accomplice, the mastermind behind, those knows but do not speak, all of them, be sent to whatever punishments they deserved.
Pray that Altantuya will be able to rest in peace, pray that those get what they deserve for their wrong doings, it might not falls upon him/her, but god bless somehow it finds its way to their children, or generation after that.

Boy oh Boy, this is one news that begs answers. Bravo to the French journalist Arnaub Dubus for revealing the untold truth. Abdul Razak Baginda who think he is scott free had better think twice & so does Najib. You can hide but you can't run from the truth. Politicians, please do your job & continue to grill Najib of his involvement. Remember at first he denied meeting Saiful but when the truth was out, he had no choice but to admit that he met Saiful (A nobody to him) not any where but in his very home. Do you trust this guy. NEVER.!!!. The mysterious disappearance of PI Bala too has its own story to tell. I wish Bala had the guts like Mr Sivakumar and come forth from wherever he is hiding. Once and for all reveal that the 1st Statutory Declaration was the right one along with all that was declared in it. All in all truth will prevail & the guilty has to answer. My God Bless Mr Setev & his family & the soul of his dear daughter Altantuya. In the final conclusion Najib is not fit to lead the country without answering truthfully to all this allegations. We are better off with Badawi leading us for the moment.

Ha! what an apt co-incidence; a French newspaper exposing the dirty hands of the Malaysian government meddling in the Altantuya court case at a time when our constitution is being manipulated and misinterpreted by the BN/UMNO government to oppress the citizens of Perak!
Just reminds one that the situation unfolding in Perak is in some ways similar to the French Revolution which resulted in the formation of just laws to protect the citizens of France.
Can the high and mighty BN/UMNO government muster up its machinery to fight this salvo from the French le Liberator ? The evil BN/UMNO can twist the constitutional laws in its own kampung and use the Police, Judiciary PLUS the whole gamut of Government machinery to suppress the Malaysian rakyat but they are no match against the cannons of the French Le Liberation !

Well, judging from the current political climate in Malaysia with UMNO still holding tight to the power, there will be no problem for Najis to become the next PM. I also believe that the RAHMAN telling will come true, but......the last N will be very very very short lived. His reputation is already at stake and we will all see his downfall soon. He is struggling, and will do anything, I mean anything, to clear off any obstacle that is hindering his road to PMship. Bala being one of the most important person in the case has gone missing with his entire family, I wouldn't be surprised if RPK or whoever gone missing as well.

Najib should sue the tabloid if he is indeed innocent and has never met Altantuya b4. Or if he is so sure that no photographs were ever taken with them being together. Doing so lends much more weight to simply swearing on the Quran which IMO, counts for nothing at all.
The Liberation could literally tapau if proven guilty of such a grave and slanderous false accusation. Threaten them to reveal the photographs, Najib! If you dare.
Whoever holds such photographs has Najib by the neck and would deal a severe blow to his reputation and credibility.
I repeat, this man can NOT become Prime Minister.

If the report is true that Altantuya said she was pregnant before she was shot at, then we should now ask that justice be given for the unborn child too.

One is almost certain what the verdict will be: the two cops will be sentenced to death (to bury the truth forever) while Najib who was mentioned so many times in the trial is not even called to testify leaving him clean of any links to the case as far as the court is concerned.
I'm not saying he is behind it but the way things have been going simply means he has not done enough to deny it nor clear his name, leaving the rakyat full of suspicion.

If u think that there are really such thing as a perfect leader, then dream on man! Wake up and look at the world today, reality bites. The world are now governed by corrupted scheaming leaders and people who are ever ready to siezed power at the instant lapses. So do u think that Raja Petra would really be a good leader if he's in power, well only time will tell and so to are party such as DAP. PAS etc. So instead of squabling among one another and poking remaks about your fellow countrymen why not give a more positive remaks about your own country.
