KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 - The so-called rapprochement between Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi could be stillborn after the former prime minister continued biting criticism against his successor.
This time, Dr Mahathir took his criticism to an international audience, using the platform of the BBC to say that "everthing went rotten" after Abdullah became prime minister.
He also lashed out at Khairy Jamaluddin and Kamal Abdullah, the son of the PM saying that both men decided on policies during the Abdullah era.
"Everything went wrong when Abdullah took over...", he said.Despite being asked several times, if some of the problems in Umno and Malaysia was the result of mistakes which he made during 22 years as the PM, Dr Mahathir refused to acknowledged any shortcomings.
Finally, he relented, saying that his mistake was picking Abdullah as his successor.
He said that in 22 years in office, Barisan Nasional always won two-thirds control in Parliament.
Amazingly, Dr Mahathir also appeared to take some credit for BN's historic mandate in 2004, noting that the general elections had come just after he stepped down as prime minister.
This claim in in direct contrast to several surveys and observations by BN leaders and political pundits which showed that the Abdullah factor and excitement over his reform agenda gave the ruling coalition 90 per cent control of Parliament.
Disappointment over his failure to keep his election promises and excesses by Umno led to BN's dismal performance in 2008 and to Abdullah early retirement.
Dr Mahathir has been attacking Abdullah since 2005, upset that his legacy was being undermined by Abdullah and peeved that his counsel was not sought by his successor.
On Saturday, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak pulled off a coup of sorts by getting Dr Mahathir to share the same stage as Abdullah at the close of the party assembly.
He said he hoped that both men would sit down with him and offer ideas of how to rebuild Umno and Malaysia.
But it looks like Dr Mahathir is not ready to bury the hatchet.

That caused all the excreta hidden and controlled in the previous 22 years to burst out leaving BN and UMNO in an abyss of sewage.
1. Temples were broken in the 22 years TDM was PM - never reported anywhere.
2. Opposition parliamentarians who spoke up - were jailed indefinitely under ISA.
3. Judiciary castrated.
4. Proceedings of UMNO's general assembly - never reported accurately for 22 years. Pak Lah showed a live telecast just once in 2007 and the whole nation knew what UMNO stood for.
5. Abuse of power and corruption by BN politicians - never saw the light of day because MSM never reported them.
Getting 2/3 of the votes in a highly dictatorial environment is nothing to be proud of.
One of the greatest undoing of UMNO and BN is the advent of the internet. The MSM can dish out all the propoganda it wants but the people still have the alternative media to ascertain the truth.
TDM never had to face the challenges Pak Lah had. All in, Pak Lah was a decent man.

Pak Lah, hopefully your last act as PM is to quickly do this.

too long of a leadership means they get cocky and think they own a country.
corruptions and cronyism all started when he is in power. what is that old man thinking?
UMNO embrace him, but ordinary people despise looking at him.
lets not forget the fact he is a racist.

Germany had Hitler
And Malaysia has Mahathir....or is it Ma-Hitler???
God please have mercy on our country....enough is enough with this evil Dr.M . He divided the Malaysian people like no other in the history of the country. God knows, if he really had more of his way and the world was not watching, what more damage he would have done to our country and our people.
Malaysians are generally not politically minded, we are not pro-BN or pro-PKR. We are pro-peace , pro-prosperity and pro-unity. Unfortunately, we have been "driven" to support one side because we want peace, unity and prosperity.
At the moment, only PKR is offering that.
The other alternative is UMNO/BN's "Najibism", which some suspect will be a form or "neo-Mahathirism". (We shall see) . Iron fist rule, more corruption, more croonism, self-glorification, manipulating as well as dis-uniting the people, the lot.

Tun, learn to forgive and love and not hate. Your hatred will kill you eventually. Just enjoy your retirement like everyone else including retired leaders.
Let history judge Badawi and yourself. Honestly I do not like the way Badawi run the country as much as you. But he has decided to quit so let him be. We need to learn to forgive and forget. The burden of hatred is too heavy carry and such behavior is proven wrong.

Mahatir is real rotten sour grapes. He could well be possessed by the devil but more likely he is entering his final phase.
Everyone knows how bad this man is, not just Malaysians but also foreigners, in paricular the Singaporeans.
Talk about Mahatir and Singaporean will spit on the ground.

His era is well over but he couldn't accept the fact that his ideas are outdated,bias and very racist.He is no different from Adolf Hitler who aspired to rule the world .No thanks to him for the 'unity' that he cultivated for the nation,which clearly divided among the races in the country.
He was actually 'policed' the country rather than ruling it.When Pak Lah took over as PM,every he has done was exposed to the limit.Enough is enough TDM,just rest and carry on with your passtime hobbies !

UMNO/BN had high ideals at the beginning. However, it has become such a sewer-pit organization for a whole part due to workings of Dr.M.
He was at its helm for 22 years. If Dr.M was so "wonderful", how come he did not do anything about it?
If he had tried to improve the practices of UMNO/BN, which would have been easier 22 years ago because UMNO's corruption was less "in-grained", things would have been very different today. He did nothing.
Pak Lah, for all his weaknesses, is an "Angel" compared to Dr. M. We thank him (Pak Lah) for allowing free speech. We have yet to see if Najib will continue with that.
He (Pak Lah) had to steer an already corrupt UMNO/BN. So even if his objectives are sincere, his peers would not allow him to change the organization and government.
So, Dr. M, if you have anyone to criticise for the state of UMNO/BN, you will see him looking at you in the mirror!
Trouble is, you still want to create more trouble with that silly mouth and twisted brain of yours. You will never stop will you? How pathetic can you get??
Your "enemy" Margaret Thatcher has had her day. You should have had yours.

An old man is a very dangerous man...
When his mind has some loose screws somewhere,
He will tembak gila gila with insanity to the end.
Pah Lah is his shooting target, too nice a guy to retaliate...
The more quiet is Pah Lah, the more incense Dr M gets...
Life goes on like that, Dr M and Pah Lah in our history books,
On and on till someone drops dead...perhaps we will get some quiet at the end.
Dr M is one very angry man,
No fooling around with someone like that...
There is no forgiveness, his bitterness will eat up his soul.
Too bad, he cannot let go whatever he is hurting...
This hurt, so scarring >>> too scary to look at.
I say man, he is back when Najib will take him back...
Nightmare in Malaysia has began, Good night lah...
Friday 13th is now beginning.
In case Dr M is dreaming that everyone in Umno loves him,
there was a thunderous applause as he walked in,
as Umno congress was ending in the last day.
Don't forget Dr Mahathir,
Umno has just given you the best compliments..
By voting for Khairy in the Umno Youth election,
thus rejecting Muhkriz, your beloved son - your anointed one to succeed.
Your legacy is terminated.
Go play quack quack on your farm.

Some of the country's ills that we found so prevailing in today's society can be summarized below:
1. The political mismanagement of the country giving rise to ever increasing racial polarization;
2. The economic mismanagement of the country caused by acute imbalances in the economy over time leading to lackluster economic performance vis-a-vis our neighboring countries ;
3. The policy mismanagement of his foreign relations leading to subtle isolation by the West on whom we depend greatly for its investments and technologies for development.
4. The inordinate use the ISA to curb political decent;
5. The deterioration of the institutions of government caused by executive interference leading to loss of public trust in the judiciary and the enforcement agencies;
6. The marginalization of sections of the society leading to social in-cohesion within the country;
7. The rise of corruption, cronyism and patronage along racial and party lines;
8. The use of extra-constitutional means to undermine the principles and practice of parliamentary democracy on which the country is founded, in order to oust oppositions from power;
9. The lack of meritocracy in the civil service leading to substandard government delivery system; and
10. The deteriorating law and order in the country.
If the above ills are arrested in time, we will face great challenges ahead as a country and I believe ABB set out to correct at least some of them but with limited success. Likewise, Najib also sees the need to continue the process of re-adjustment but whether he can succeed will be left to time. For the country to return to Mahathirism would be unthinkable.

He never has anything good to say about others, he is too much of himself, period.
When he was in power, he controls everything with a tight fist and everyone lived like commercially bred chickens locked up in chicken coops.
When Pak Lah took over, he won big because the people, at last, after a long 20 years had a breath of fresh air as free range chickens.
Now he wants to lock us up in the coop again.
Well, we say, "No Thank You, Dr. M, we prefer to be free range!".
Say "Yes" to Freedom and Shout "NO" to Mahathirism!

But then, during the early 80's also marked the time when someone became the PM., and we see a deteriorating of the Malaysian society. Sad... Now we have Malay Mat Rempit, Chinese Loan Shark, Indian Jaga Kereta.
Now I am older and being a young adult, I can make rational decisions with a matured and proactive mind. The old BN policies are obsolete. This is a new Malaysia, and is time for Pakatan Rakyat to lead and bring change. I am fed up of race and religion talk. I have never cared and don't pay a single mind on whether you are Malay or Indian, as I being a Chinese has never thought of myself as a Chinese, but as a Malaysian.
There is a reason why the question on your short-comings have been asked several times. You have been joining Najib in World of Warcraft lately haven't you? Tsk tsk.

Now I know why they use the ISA, banning the Harakah and Suara keadilan for 3 months, I saw how the TV1,2,3 reporting their news.
They (Hamid) claiming that ISA is used to control the terrorists, but if you count ISA detainees since its establishment, it was so much used for UMNO political rivals than the terrorists of what they'd claimed before the International news line.

If he had friends like Tun Suffian, Tun Salleh Abas or his nemesis Lee Kuan Yew, maybe people would view him differently. He is just a mean, evil man who will not accept that he is no longer God in Malaysia. He remained God by, as many commentators above have said, using force, detaining people, curbing freedom of expression and other suppressive measures.
The Almighty God will punish him as He will Mahathir's family for all the evil they have done.

Who limit the power of all the Sultans...
Who instruct all major newspapers on blackout of important news
Let us take a check on the quality of all department in Malaysia starting from sports,education i.e ranking of university,racial integration,police,judiciary......and more. I dare say all have deteriorated in your 22 years but all swept under the carpet by your dictatorial style of leadership.Who dare to go against you during your reign.
You have not changed but I must commend Pak Lah for being gracious to you.
Pak Lah may not be so smart like you but he is fair and has taken over the administration from you at a rotten state.So when one is not so smart the condition has worsen.
But dare you say that during your time all the things are fine....What about corruption,my friend.
Pls do not compare with Indonesia but compare with our arch rival ,Singapore, we are far behind.
