KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 – DAP leader Lim Kit Siang has described as “shocking and offensive” the statement by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that Chinese voters are ungrateful in voting for Pakatan Rakyat and that they deceived the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the recent by-elections.
The deputy prime minister made the remarks in an interview in Mingguan Malaysia yesterday.
He also called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to clarify the definition of his One Malaysia philosophy to give a common understanding of the concept to all, adding that Muhyiddin’s statements have already given a bad name to One Malaysia.
“It is most shocking that 52 years after national independence, the Number Two in the federal government of a multi-racial nation could come out with such retrogressive and most unacceptable views about Malaysian democracy and nation building,” said Lim in response to Muhyiddin’s statements.
In the interview with Mingguan Malaysia, Muyhiddin said that the BN felt deceived by Chinese voters and that the community should be grateful for government assistance to Chinese schools. The deputy prime minister also said that the Chinese and Indian communities now liked to see themselves as kingmakers in the current political landscape, where Malay votes are split between three parties.
The lawmaker pointed out that Muhyiddin’s complaint about the Chinese being “ungrateful” and the BN feeling “duped” by the Chinese in getting various “benefits” without reciprocating by giving votes to BN was proof that BN was guilty of practising money politics in elections and using public funds in the form of development projects to fish for votes.
“Voters are only getting what belongs to them as part of their right as Malaysian citizens,” said Lim. “There is no question of the voters having to feel ‘grateful’ to the Barisan Nasional as the monies do not come from the private pockets of the Barisan Nasional leaders but the public coffers of the government.”
Lim also called Muyhiddin “mischievous” for claiming that the non-Malays want to be kingmakers at the expense of Malays.
“The Chinese and Indians are not and do not want to be the political kingmakers in Malaysia. Such a concept is most irresponsible and even dangerous and should not be encouraged,” said Lim.
“What we want to see is the full, free and fair functioning of the system of parliamentary democracy in Malaysia where the kingmakers will be the Malaysian voters – Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli and all other Malaysians.”
Muhyiddin’s interview also caused the Ipoh Timur member of parliament to wonder about the concept of One Malaysia, which Najib has said will be the thrust of his new administration.
He called on the prime minister to clearly define the concept at his first cabinet meeting this Wednesday.
“If it rejects DAP’s Malaysian Malaysia, Gerakan’s Malaysian Malaysia, even the Bangsa Malaysia concept of Vision 2020, what does Najib’s “1Malaysia” really mean?”
“It is clear from Muhyiddin’s interview that he is still propounding the concept of Ketuanan Melayu, which is a camouflage for Ketuanan Umnoputras, when after 52 years since Merdeka, the time has come for Ketuanan Rakyat Malaysia” said Lim, referring to widespread criticism that the concept of Malay supremacy is being used to benefit only the elite in Umno and not the Malay community at large.
He says that the interview gives a clear impression that the Umno leadership has not learned the lessons from the “March 8 Political Tsunami” that saw the Umno led ruling coalition lose five states to the opposition and also the results from five by-elections since, in which the entire might of BN was used and yet managed to win only one.
“Umno and Barisan Nasional have become politically irrelevant and Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, want to be kingmakers to effect a major political change in the next general elections,” said Lim.
The opposition veteran also called on Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, in his capacity as minister in the Prime Minister’s department in charge of key performance indicators for ministers as well as for One Malaysia, to seek an apology from Muhyiddin.
Najib’s One Malaysia slogan emphasises mutual trust and respect among the different races that make up Malaysia, but has yet to be translated into firm directives, policies and programmes. It has also made some Umno supporters uneasy.
Mingguan Malaysia ran an opinion piece yesterday on One Malaysia saying that the concept also means that there is a need to continue the affirmative policies due to historical realities and the social contract.

We now have a leadership devoid of morals, ethics or honor. Yucksin has come out that BN thought it has "bribed" the Chinese and Indian voters, that it engaged in "instant mee" projects just for the by-elections.
So, where is MACC? Shouldn't they be investigating, since these can be construed as a confession by Yucksin, printed in Mingguan Malaysia?
Shouldn't the other component parties, especially MCA and Gerakan distance themselves from Yucksin's obvious racially motivated oratory vomit?
So far, there's been a deafening silence. No matter, the Malaysian voters, both Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sabahan, Sarawakians, etc. will answer in a deafening roar during upcoming by-elections and GE13.

To say Chinese are not grateful is totally out of mind and absurd, and the statement by our DPM is further strengthening my belief that we really need to vote BN comes next GE.
At this present state of times, why are our politicians still playing the racial cards, i wonder? If what our DPM said can be construed as true, then those Indians, Malay and the rest not voting for BN can also be term as ungrateful, too bad for a leader to say that

ONE MALAYSIA will never be archived with the attitudes of BN.
Well....... wait till the General Election and erase BN off. BN has not learned the lessons from the “March 8 Political Tsunami” Then let BN will learn a bitter lesson again in the next GE.
Actions of All Malaysians (i.e. Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli and all others) speak louder than words.

It doesn't matter how long we have achieved independence. BN still believes they're "the best" and anyone who believes otherwise is regarded as betrayers. We shall remember and record the harsh comments made to the Chinese (and who knows to other races as well), and we shall speak with our hands in 2013.

In a trade off, you should 'offer' something to the other party and ask for something in return. Then, if the other party 'accepts', only then 'consideration' should take place.
How many are accepting your 'offers'? They must've 'accepted' and given 'consideration' through votes!

This is the price which the BN government has to pay for the damage they have done to the Chinese for 50 years. They have hurt the feeling of Chinese by calling them "pendatang", treat them like second class citizen, they always tell them to go back to China if you don't like it .... and the list goes on. This is what the BN can never pay back by giving out goodies during the campaign of election. All we want to see is they have really changed, not just talk only no action (NATO).

difference between a political Party in government as distinctly separate from it existence as a political party, UMNO. He does
not understand that UMNO is not synonimous with the government of Malaysia. From his statement that YB Lim Kit Siang take
offence with it is too obvious that Myhiddin does not understand that UMNO is not the government. The government is made
up of UMNO elected members of Parliament; therefore unless you are an UMNO member of Parliament, you do not participate
in the government. That said any member of UMNO is not also a member of the government. This issue is so simple that I am
amazed that our DPM does not understand the concept. What a disgrace !
The Chinese Malaysians are also, in spite of the NEP and such bullshit full citizens of Malaysia although Chinese are discriminated
by the UMNO government, we are under the Malaysian Constitution as equal as the Malays. This I think need a bit of explaining;
the Malays under the Constitution are not extra-specially endowed with RIGHTS IN LAW THAT THE CHINESE ARE NOT SIMILARLY
ENDOWED. The distortion in the perception of our relative rights under the Constitution is due to the NEP that crafted special
privileges for the Malays that is an extention of the 9 years under the original Constitution that gave the Malays special
privileges; which should have ended by that time. Therefore as you can see the Malays under the Constitution had only special
privileges AND NOT CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS THAT IS ENTRENCHED. However due to the MCA & MIC complicity in allowing
the such amendment carried out under the Mahatir government, this special privileges was extended.
In this discussion it can be seen that the Malays had claimed special privileges entitlement that was not intended by the
founding fathers, but came about by the complicity of the MCA & MIC. Having argued thus WHY SHOULD THE CHINESE BE IN
ANY WAY BEHOLDEN TO UMNO OR THE MALAYS FOR THAT MATTER ? Why should we as Chinese be grateful to UMNO ? This is
just too ridiculous to take seriously. In this context as all of us can see it is the MCA that has sold out the Chinese by acting in
conspiracy with the UMNO to ROB THE CHINESE OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS; AND IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT ALL
CHINESE MUST JUTTISON THE MCA LIKE A BOX OF ROTTING BAD SMELLING FISH !
No Sir Myhiddin we Chinese if anything must take out on UMNO for beguiling the MCA bad fish to sell out the Chinese.
Remember my Chinese brothers and sisters, that we live in shame and HUMILIATION BECAUSE MCA SOLD US OUT ! We must at
all costs vote Pakatan Rakyat so that we can again find our rights as full citizens under the Malay

When Muhyiddin says BN...he meant Umno.
The rabbit is out of the hat...Umno felt deceived by the Chinese voters...drum rollllllls.
The Chinese are ungrateful despite the government gave financial to Chinese schools...not everyone.
The money was given during the campaign at the by-elections of Bukit Gantang and B. Selambau.
Muhyiddin not satisfied went on to attack the Indian community as well,
The Chinese and Indian think they are kingmakers because the Malay voter are split.
In saying that, Muhyiddin want the Malays to realise they will be kicked out of offices -
The Malays will be ruled by the Chinese - the Perak government was Chinese...that is why
Umno plotted to take over - the Malay's rights to politics...the rights to rule over all others.
1 Malaysia - it is nothing but a happy slogan - a trickery to cheat non-Malays to vote for Umno.
In such short time, Malaysia's Number 2 loses his patience and let out the rabbit.
Ooops, the muslihat of Umno - aiyahhh, naughty Umno - so mischievious.
Right from the start, before independence from the British -
Umno was weaker, Malay population at that time was only 50% or less - if you include Singapore.
Umno must use MCA and MIC - together they can win the respective race - the start of the race-based politics. The Chinese and Indians didn't see this coming - today the muslihat of Umno is revealed.
All the past general elections, BN won and gave Umno the rulership because MCA and MIC were very strong in getting support from their respective communities...
Dr M's last general election, BN should have lost because the Malays on majority turned to Pas and PKR but Dr M was saved by big majority coming from Chinese and Indians.
Umno mudah lupa - Umno is the one who is ungrateful.
The equation is now changed...the non-Malays were so afraid of Pas because Umno was spreading fears that Pas was ultra-Islamist and not to be trusted. Pas wants to turn Malaysia into Islamic nation...blah blah...
Then Dr M declared to the world that Malaysia is an Islamic nation...Umno was behaving like one, totally ignoring MCA and MIC - whatever their inputs not considered at all.
Umno felt deceived by the Chinese voters, says Muhyiddin...
C'mon, based on historical realities and social contract - today the Chinese voters felts deceived by Umno...BTW there is no social contract...show me the document signed by the three communities leaders - Rahman, Cheng Lock and Sanbanthan.
Government financial assistance to vernacular schools - don't give with motive for fishing votes - that is money politics. It is government's responsiblity.

the blame game is now on the Chinese and the Indians.Their concept of
Ketuanan Melayu is actually Ketuanan UMNOputra and this arrogant,
corrupted party can no longer do as they pleased.
Yes,you can say that the Chinese and Indians and also Malays are no longer
fools. With Euro 114 millions paid as commission to Perimaker, another 18 millions
splashed by Pampena Sdn.Bhd,a business arm of Tourism Malaysia, spending
7 millions purchasing 5 taxis, what about Khir Toyo, the ice cream man and
ex-mentri besar of selangor, splasing RM1.7million on his numerous trips to
Disneyland Orlando,Miami and Cape Kennedy and oh not forgetting Paris,
bring along his wife, children and maid..his wife, under the guise of Balkis,
spent another RM1.2million on her holiday trips to Disneyland Tokyo,Hong Kong
etc..oh, what about her lst class air ticket to Melbourne visiting her son in College.
Mr.DPM,the Chinese and INdians are not ungrateful but what they want from the
ruling Govt. is competency, accountability and transparency. The good days are over
and the arrogance of UMNO leaders like Ali Rustam, telling PPP and other races to
leave BN because UMNO can stand alone,is proven wrong. On another matter, heed
the advice of YM Tengku Razaleigh and dissolve the Pereak State Assembly. The longer
UMNO/BN holds on to Perak, the more the Chinese and Indians will punish MCA,MIC and
Gerakan..of course,PPP is no longer relevant, just as predicted by Ali rustam.

For us Malaysian to be able to live and stay harmoniously so that we can 'cari makan' peacefully, the first principal of basic decency is to respect each other personality, race, religion and believes.
Of course UMNO and BN component parties has made a lot of mistakes along the way of their 50 odd years of leadership but we must remember that our beloved Malaysia had tremendous development in
economy, infrastructure, education, international stature and many more pluses.Along with these development a lot of Malaysian from various races including the malays, chinese and indian community
had benefited .
Is it too much to ask for from the chinese community to be fair to the BN federal government who has brought about all these development? And if they does not give the said vote in the recent Bukit Gantang by-election is it wrong for the DPM to said it aloud the real reason behind the failure of the chinese community there to vote for the BN candidate? Is there anything racist about this?
YB Lim Kit Siang must start to not skew the minds of the chinese community to reject everything this BN government has done seemed not fitting to his political believe. You must learn to respect the unsaid gestures of the majority malays whom up untll now has not said anything about your other racist remarks.Believe me,those corrupt politicians from both sides will be thrown out by the rakyat in no time at all and we have already seen the initial phase of systematic removal of corrupt politicians from both sides.

BN leaders must understand that the voters, whatever race or gender, expect the Government to work for them. It is for that reason that they vote or register as voters. Time and again, I have heard remarks that all Malaysians owe it to BN for all the progress and development that we see to-day. Are they warranted?
Many remarked to me that isn't that what they are supposed to do! Is it not the duty for the Party in power to govern and work for the betterment of its people irrespective of gender and race? BN had ruled since the Independence Of Malaya in 1947, "?conquered" Sabah and Sarawak in 1963 and are having trouble of its own making since.
Why blame any race or person for any problem or failure of BN in any polls? The voters are telling you that you are "NOT DOING ENOUGH". Take it on the Chin and start working for all Malaysians. Last general election, BN was given the mandate to serve again, so now it is time for the Cabinet to start working to help the new PM deliver the goodies which had been promised.

If we follow the DPM's line of reasoning, then the BN must feel equally deceived and duped by all those Malays who voted for PAS or PKR. After all the Malays have received so much more from the UMNO largesse than the Chinese or the Indians.
This rubbish certainly does nothing to advance the PM's concept of One Malaysia. Perhaps Najib should give his deputy a stern public dressing down for making such short sighted bigoted remarks.
I can't wait for the next GE so we can throw out such politicians as our "esteemed" DPM who are totally bankrupt and devoid of new fresh ideas to unite Malaysians rather than divide them.
I should also add that Mingguan Malaysia should be ashamed for swallowing such rubbish and churning it out as legitimate news.

Dalam membentuk kerajaan yang tinggi kedudukan nya terjumpa pula seorang DPM, yang tak begitu tinggi kelulusan nya cuba membuat komen yang begitu "no standard" Poor in Maths and speaks lousy english and etc.

For the goodness sake of the country, they rejected short-term goodies handed by UMNO/BN, instead they voted the corrupted UMNO/BN down.
No different from many Malays and Indians, who have waken up from the 50-year-long nightmare, the Chinese knows that the corrupted UMNO/BN would only harm the country.
This is the true 1-Malaysia, Malays, Indians and the Chinese all worked together to get rid of corruption, to get rid of racism, to get rid of fascism for a better Malaysia.

Sometimes it makes one wonder the yard stick MI uses to measure what is ok to be published and what not is rather dactylic.
Are you or not? MI?

I still live by the traditions of Chinese culture although I do not mix cultural practice with my Islamic religion of my choice, long before I even got to College in the 60s. Now, the question is not whether the Chinese in Perak (Bukit Gantang) had deliberately betrayed UMNO/BN as reflected in the small winnings for MP/ADUN Nizar, who has Chinese blood too.
Nizar's victory was purely with the last minute swing of "gambling votes" with certain elements of sympathies. The Chinese diehard gamblers and some Malays, Indians and other imported Malaysians of foreign workers, bet heavily and tilted the votes in favour of Nizar. I demand an immediate full swing MACC investigation on the matter and please don't tell me "No evidence and No case".
That's the fact and Tun Mahathir;s sudden presence did not do well as expected. Tun did not use his magic wand but his "midas touch" won the heart and mind of the people. To Tun himself, he is aware that "win or lose" in the two bukits will not effect the sentiments of the people, especially the true "ketuanan Melayu" and Chinese, who will continue to support UMNO/MCA/BN combind.
Now that the newly accepted BN government rules in Perak things will be back to normal after 11 months of honeymoon and political truce period during the PAS rule. As for MIC, they should be forced out from BN as they had made this wish a long time ago in threatening to leave UMNO whenever there is an Indian issue or crisi beyond the control of Samy Velu. Purrah!!!

We acknowledge that MCA, Gerakan, MIC and any other component party will not be able to represent Malaysian anymore - even if there try, their hand are tie. Don't blame them, this leader are trap, what a pity. We shall pray for them.
As for UMNO community (not malay) we shall pray for them as well. We pray that there will never come to realizations - let them champion "Ketuanan Melayu" because we know by now how to exercise our citizen rights through the voting ballot box. We don't aim to punish, we give Malaysia back to Malaysian - genuine Malaysian that work hard for the unity of the people.
Give yourself a promise - 4 years from now - do not forget - use your vote wisely. Stay calm, don't challenge the BN government let them have their last 4 years. The BN government will take preventive measure if you all are too eager for radical change. Change ourselves and be prepare for the day.
Use your voice wisely and gently - make our Malay friends come to realizations- we are fighting for a united Malaysia with undivided Malaysian. Only one race - Malaysian. Do your job today quietly, understand your Malay friends needs, share and learn from each other - be tolerant.
Our Malay brothers & sisters is part of us. It's only UMNO community that can see us the non-bumiputra as part of Malaysia Malaysian. I am apolitical - I don't support PR as well, but I want a peaceful Malaysia for Malaysian. Love your peers regardless of race, religion, status & wealth.

In recent by-elections, Chinese did not take the bait set up by UMNO. Chinese were not lured by the candy handed out by UMNO. Muhyiddin refuses to face the fact that UMNO have lost credibility, instead he blames the Chinese for being ungrateful.
Not only Chinese, close to half of the population of Malaysia are getting extremely fed up with UMNO and BN nonsense. Things will only get worse for UMNO, thanks to dick heads like Muhyiddin, Hishammudin, Syed Hamid etc etc.

Bila tak undi UmNo, "ungrateful" kononnya.
semua orang terhutang budi kepada UmNo..
Konsep terhutang budi menjadikan cina ialah Hamba, UmNo ialah Tuan.
Inilah fikiran sebenar DPM..

WE, the rakyat employ YOU. YOU are our servants. So if we think you are not competent enough, WE as YOUR BOSS, have the right to SACK YOU. WE have the right to "employ", i.e. vote for someone else we think would be more competent and meet our expectations.
YOU, the BN morons are not our boss. Remember that.
Hence, YOU should be grateful to us, not the other way around.
Also, I thought an UMNO moron had commented before that "WE DO NOT NEED THE VOTES OF THE NON-MALAYS". Fine, we have all decided not to vote you anymore. You asked for it.

I would like to ask Mr Ong, if everyone here is putting words into Tan Sri Muhyiddin's mouth, what, pray tell, are the exact words that came out from his mouth? Actually, I can answer that. According to Utusan, it is this: "Ini yang mungkin menyebabkan sukar BN mendapat sokongan walaupun kita fikir bila mereka hendak sekolah Cina dibantu, kita bantu, sepatutnya mereka membalas budi." This is just one example of what the good Tan Sri said. How this sentence could be intepreted to not mean that the Chinese are ungrateful, I fail to see. As for whether the Chinese are hurt, maybe not all of them are hurt, but it seems like many are.
From Mr Ong's use of phrases like 'if the Chinese... had deliberately betrayed UMNO/BN', it seems that he harbours the idea that BN has a divine right to rule. Malaysians who vote for parties other than BN are either betrayers or protesters. Let it be known that, in a democracy, a voter has the right to vote as he thinks fit and it is the duty and responsibility of the government of the day to provide for the people regardless of who they voted for. Mr Ong, having lived in places like Washington D.C. and New Zealand, I think he knows this better than I.

Be grateful of PAS, the party that you are against with to work with you.
I guess you must also be so grateful that Mr Anwar is on your side.
I hope you still do if any of these subjects turn up against you back one day.
Can't wait to see you and these people's true colours when leading the country one day.
So much of ungrateful people in Malaysia today!

By accusing one race of being ungratful and not others, he has for starters driven a wedge among the various races giving the perception that he is not a DPM for all Malasians.
All the Rakyat pay taxes and these the taxes collected must be used to benfit all its citizens without any prejudice to any one race in Malaysia.
Muhyidden is DPM now and he owes his salary, big car, big house, all the perks and allowances to the taxes paid by the Rakyat. How can he then say, we are ungrateful? You owe it to us as we are paying your salary - not the other way round! If you and your colleagues cannot perform, we Malaysians have the right to throw you out and choose more capable people to run the country.
Malaysia is full of talented people who also can lead our country and perform good service for us - it's not only you or your colleagues can do it only!!
If you cannot do your work well, then by all means you can givr it up!!!

A check in MS Word, US English Thesaurus; "unappreciative" shows:
1. Ungrateful;
2. Showing no gratitude;
3. Unthankful.
Which US/UK/Queen's English dictionary are you using?; don't insult Rakyat's command of English! Its better than yours!
