KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is facing the brunt of a budding backlash against keeping Elizabeth Wong in the state government despite the circulation of intimate photographs of her.
Distancing himself from the party's decision, Kulim MP Zulkfili Noordin said it reflected Selangor's disrespect to Wong's offer to resign from her executive council post and Bukit Lanjan seat.
"The decision by the mentri besar and Selangor government will add pressure on Eli. It is certain that there are parties who will take the opportunity to put pressure on Eli," Zulkifli wrote in his weblog on Wednesday, referring to Wong by her popular nickname.
Khalid on Wednesday announced that Selangor had rejected Wong's resignation from the Bukit Lanjan seat and the state executive council, two months after she tearfully left when the intimate pictures surfaced.
Zulkifli is no stranger himself to controversy after there was pressure for him to be dropped from PKR for barging into an interfaith forum organised by the Bar Council last year. But PKR has not taken any action against him.
"Eli chose to resign and had in fact resigned. That is her personal right. I am confident Eli knows and understands the problem she faces," he wrote in the post.
He criticised Khalid for basing his decision on the police failure to complete their investigations when "it is common knowledge that it had stalled because of the lack of cooperation from a suspect who has gone missing".
“My sympathies lie with Wong and I was the first to come out to defend her and to call for action against those who infringed on her personal privacy.”
However, he said sympathy for her and forcing her to continue were two separate issues.
“I hope the mentri besar and his administration will reconsider the decision,” said Zulkifli.

You are most welcomed to try, and I am sure PKR would accept your good gesture with open arms.

Is capturing her in a sleeping stance with the frame targeting her bottom part so immoral ? Who is immoral in the first place, her " boyfriend " or Eli herself ?
Well, the picture was taken in the privacy of her house when she was sleeping and without her permission. By right her boyfirend should be taken to task by the police for circulating pictures on the internet and not the public subjecting Eli to all sorts of mental torture.
The problem was created by Hilmi himself and not Eli.
The trojan horse of UMNO, Zulkifli Nordin, should keep his mouth shut as he does not even know the difference between morality and intrusion into personal privacy.
written by LOH SH, April 17, 2009
Nordin has the right to think that there are parties who will take the opportunity to put pressure on Eli. But it is up to Eli again to take them on. If Eli is brave enough to stay on, she will be strong enough to face any further pressure. Nordin can still sympathize with her, but does not have to unduly worry for her.
PKR, Khalid and Eli are right in refusing to further rewarding the criminals who outrage Eli’s privacy, and also ignoring the like of Nordin and Khir Toyo.

Eli is back by popular demand. If you call that "duress", then so be it. It is certainly a much better position to be in than Zambry for example, who has to plead for acceptance after his party grabbed power in a dirty way.
You do not have the right to impose your moral values upon those of a different faith, so keep your unwanted opinions to yourself. PKR, please do not make this man a candidate again in the next elections.

2. What's wrong to allow Eli continue her good work if she is just a victim? You dun even have a convincing answer.
If you cant answer the 2 simple questions, the best is to keep quiet. The more you talk does not mean you have great mind, kawan.
Let me share with you some facts of life. Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. And Small minds discuss people. Which category do you best fit in?
written by Salau, April 17, 2009
Can you give us all who are PR - PKR, PAS and DAP supporters a VALID reason why Eli Wong's resignation should be accepted?
The fact she resigned was because she didn't want to cause political pressure on her parti, in particular, and the alliance as a whole. Tha's her consideration as person and a respectable politician.
However, whether or not to accept her resignation is a different matter altogether. This decision must be weighted against the values PR represents which is upholding justice of and for the people.
If YAB Khalid has ever accepted her decision to resign, it whould have portrayed an eniterly contradiction to what PR represents.
I welcome and support the decision of YAB Khalid and his colleagues who has supported him in his decision.
And, if you, YB Zulklifi, has a problem with the decision your leadership has made, take it up to them through the internal chanel and will show your respect to your party and to yourself than displaying some heroic acts. I DO NOT concur your behaviours as a rakyat.
A note to the PR leaders - you really need to seriously look inside your house and ensure you are really one level above the corrupted BN. Sorrupted minds are sometimes more dangerous than corrupted behaviour becasue corrupted minds will not show its true colour until when power is in the hands of corrupted minds.

There 2 standards here we need to uphold - 1) the individual privacy; 2) political ethics ie never resort on such despicable manner to over-throw a political rival.
We are counting on PR to uohold these values as we do not expect BN to carry out the duties they should.

How could the PR coalition be legitimate without a constitution? Behind closed doors, PKR, DAP and PAS must have been doing things on its own that is mutually exclusive of each other. BN has at least a constitution that all member parties can work together as follows.
http://www.digitalibrary.my/index.php?view=article&catid=14:party-constitutions&id=917:perlembagaan-barisan-nasional&option=com_content&Itemid=33
God forbid PR to form the next Federal Government after GE13 if it does not have the people and a coalition constitution. How can a coalition function without any reference?
As for Khalid, do not deceive the people of Malaysia with your CEO background at PNB. I have seen it all. Just look at AIG, GM or RBS. A typical CEO will grab everything for itself, even at the expanse of mass sacking of its employees. It is no suprise that Khalid is agressive in grabbing all the roles like MP, ADUN, EXCO and MB. It is tantamount to abusing our democratic process and system. To deceive further, these people have clique and therefore Guan Eng, Ngeh, Teresa, Eli and many others were encouraged to do the same. It means that cronyism or corruption is worse in PR behind the scene. Datuk Seri Nizar is the exception because his role as MB in Perak is indeterminate. If Kahlid, Guan Eng, Teresa or Eli had missed Parlimentary sessions, then they have failed the people of Malaysia by not doing their job. It is not just doing petty things like approving permits only at the state level. An MP role is national like education, medicare, defence, energy, security, telecommunication, infrastructure and a compliment to the ruling coalition. It is not just opposing for opposition sake. Besides, a genuine MP has to work more than 16 hours a day. It is impossible to be MP-ADUN-EXCO-MB all at once because there is just not enough time.
As in Wall Street, the people will never self-regulate. Our Parliment must legislate immediately such that no one can hold multiple roles such as MP-ADUN-EXCO-MB.
PR needs serious reform. At the party level, a legal agreement must be drawn such that any member that hop to another party must resign and cannot be an independent; no one can hold multiple roles like MP-ADUN-EXCO-MB and many other issues. It PR does not do it, then it means that PR wants to continue to abuse our democratic and parlimentary process and system for petty gains and never want to work for the people of Malaysia.
PR must form the shadow-image ministers to compliment the ruling coalition. This is the only justification for the MPs to be in Parliment. PR members need the preparation and experience to run the next Government if it can win the majority in GE13. Yes, this is Malaysia. BN members will even help PR members to from the shadow-image compliment if PR members are genuine and sincere. This is the real Malaysian system at work. Please leave our Parliment if you do not want to do it. There are thousands of ethical Malaysians who will and can do a much better job for the people of Malaysia.

First you gatecrashed into the Bar Council's Meeting & now you talk back your Selangor MB(YB EW's matter) while still being a PKR/PR Rep. When your higher up have decided, you shut-up unless you have something better to say.
Should YB EW's resignation be accepted, think of the wastage to be incurred in terms of finances, time, people, etc etc for another by election. The Rakyat is too tired & fed-up with all these problems, the financial crisis, power grabbing/kickbacks by the UMNO cronies, nepotism, and the long list yet to be mentioned.
So YB EW has accepted the rejection of her resignation and returned to office. That settles it. So why should you screw-up again. You better concentrate on your KULIM Constituency before you see yourself sitting by the wayside when the next EC is over.

'cos from reading this article, I would not have reached that conclusion:
This article, and his blog make it clear his reasons for disagreeing with Khalid is because he feels she should have the right to resign, and not to be pressured into keeping her posts. He is not calling for his resignation, rather, he is calling for people to respect her decision, in this case, her earlier decision to resign.
He also makes it clear that this opinion has nothing to do with what has happened to her - and there is no reason to suppose any malicious intent, seeing as he is calling for her decision to be respected, rather than calling into question her morals or capability. In fact, he recognises that she is a victim in this, and thoroughly condemns the perpetrators in his blog.
Lastly, just because he is in PKR, it doesn't mean he has to agree with everything his fellow PKR members say or do; joining a party doesn't mean you lose your right to think, or even to free speech; we expect the various party-leaders in PKR, and any other party for that matter, to be creative, thinking, independent leaders, not drones.

A lot of people who commented didn't even bother to read what Zulkifly actually said and just went straight to Facist lynch mob mode. This kind of lynch mob behavior is exactly what Raja Petra criticized in his article "For He Is a Jolly Good Fellow".
Zulkifly said the MB should not have rejected Eli's resignation. Since he is an elected representative, he would know the kind of pressure that elected representatives are subjected to, which is something that none of the commentors would know anything about. On the issue of Eli being pressured to stay on, he might be privy to what actually is happening behind the scenes, something that none of the commentors (myself included) would be privy to. We cannot judge whether its right or wrong that since we don't know whether she was pressured or not.
ZULKIFLY NEVER SAID ELI SHOULD RESIGN. HE SAID IF AN ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE OFFERS TO RESIGN, THE MB SHOULD CONSIDER THE RESIGNATION KEEPING IN MIND THE CONSEQUENCES ON THAT REP SHOULD THE MB REJECT THE RESIGNATION.
Come on, people.. be civil. It's ok to disagree with YB Zul. I disagree with YB Zul. But what worries me is the facist tone of many of the comments. A right way to comment would be e.g.
"I disagree with YB Zul that MB should reconsider his decision to keep Eli on because .. reason 1, reason 2.. "
One good example of a civil comment is by Tarchornis.
Unfortunately I see a lot of facist-sounding comments such as:
"Get rid of this guy before he does serious damage to PKR"
"Can you shut your big mouth together with any holes you have "
"Zul recongise your true self: go to UMNO"
'PKR need to purge itself from retarded MP...with no integrity..and no brain."
"This fella is nothing but a racist. His unsavoury and unsolicited comments is the very reason that the non-Muslims are wary of Islam. "
People .. we will get a government that reflects our society. If our society at large is full of facist like many of the commentors.. it does not matter whether BN or PR we are going to end with a facist govt. Malaysians, for God's sake.. I hope you change your lynch mob mentality. Many of the commentors here sound like the mirror image of UMNO supporters, who can't tolerate anyone saying something that they disagree with. To them, anyone who disagrees with them is automatically evil / racist / bigot / Satan.
God help us if this is the future of Malaysia!

Zul, if someone took a picture of you naked having a bath, or you sleeping suddenly with your sarong down, or in the process "communing with nature" in the toilet, all without your knowing and infringing your privacy, are you going to resign even though it was not your fault those pictures were taken?
If that happens, are you going to resign as MP claiming it is all your own stupid fault and then jump into the well? Of course not, you won't do that. You only expect others to do it but yourself.
You do not deserve to be a PKR MP.... we hope Anwar will drop you and replace you. Otherwise, voters of PKR in Kulim would likely NOT vote for the party.

No one question your right to sound you opinion, but please sound it like a YB not rascal.
You have right to sound your opinion but you must aware of the topic/issue to whom you are addressing to , you have to differentiate between public and private, you must know what topic or issue to talk when dealing with public and when not to open your big mouth. I notice you do not know how to think rationally or from wider prospective / angle. You only talk from your angle, an angle of Katak Tempurung.
Read also Holy Books from other religion to enrich and widen our knowledge to make us a more "Balance & Harmonious" person not a shrewd pretender.
I always believe : [ Our Religion Will be Greater when we help followers from other Faith ]
Whether a religion is good or bad by looking at behaviour of their follower , we will be able to know that particular is good or bad.
Simple reason : We are the by-products of the religion which we claim to be GREATEST, proof it YB by not talking nonsense. Don't mix religion with politics please. Religion is between you and your God which has nothing with our daily life.
Religion has nothing to do with one's politics career or your education or your racial background.
It is above all mankind Attribute and Disposal.
Don't come and tell us you are more holy than others while only GOD is IMMORTAL.
Eli make a mistake (by allowing her ex-Boy friend who betray her) not with intention, but some how she offer to resign as a responsible Yang Berhormat but it is the MB and PR , I believe has taken all factors / angle not to accept her resignation.
YB Zul, Will you resign if you are in her situation ? I guess definately NOT, you are just like Ali Rustam or Khir Toyo - tidak pandai malu and tanpa Maruah (Dignity). If in Japan, you need to Harakiri long overdue.
Don't ever think you are an Angle when you are just talking "Nonsense Logic" as though you are a very religious and moral person.
It seem to me you are a trouble-maker not a politicians who cannot go along and toe-in with Party line of the majority. You are create "Conflict & Confusion" as well as uncertainty within the PR. I begin to suspect your intention is to allow Opposition (BN) to attack PR, may be you are planted by UMNO to betray all us who support PR.
It seem you sound you are more capable then Khalid or DS Anwar ?
Let me remind you again, stop your nonsense before it is too late for you.
