KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — A Mahathir-era adviser has warned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to prioritise Malaysia's economy and restore it by July or face the same fate as his predecessor.
Matthias Chang said Najib and his administration have had five years of warming up or planning programmes and should swing into action immediately to make things right instead of still figuring out the strategies.
"What is the single-most important thing that you must do as captain and treasurer of the team to win the confidence and support of the fans? If you and your team do not know the answer, I suggest that you join the just retired captain and save us a whole load of aggravation," the former political secretary to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wrote in his futurefastforward.com weblog yesterday.
"You have been warned!" Chang added ominously in the post titled “Is The New Captain Another Football Captain Just Warming Up? It May Be Worse, The Team (i.e. Advisers) Is Still In The Dressing Room!”
While not seen as influential, Chang is still a regular visitor at the Perdana Leadership Institute in Putrajaya where Dr Mahathir keeps his office. He is best remembered for organising a tea ceremony where Chinese leaders offered tea to Dr Mahathir in September 2001.
Dr Mahathir himself wrote yesterday that Najib's Cabinet contained several unsavoury characters although he congratulated the prime minister for not appointing Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin whom he called corrupt.
"As a government, you are expected to perform and perform well, so don't tell us that you will monitor your team's performance. You are the captain. Act like one!
"You better shape up fast or we will ship you and your team out!" Chang wrote in capitals while admonishing the country's sixth prime minister who took office two weeks ago.
Chang also chastised Najib for not offering anything new in his Cabinet.
"It is the same old team, with the same tactics, and the same cheer leaders. Can you just tell us what is new, different and really meaningful? And for heaven’s sake, don’t do or say anything that will remind us of the just retired captain, his arrogant son-in-law and their baggage.
"If you should utter again that the just retired captain is OK and you will look to him for advice, then all bets are off. We are tired of watching the same movie over and over again. Is this so difficult for you and your idiotic and opportunist advisers to comprehend?" he wrote.
He also questioned Najib for not being updated on the global financial crisis since becoming the finance minister, saying he should sack the advisers and officials at Bank Negara or Treasury if they kept giving wrong data and advice.
Chang also warned the prime minister that it was the efforts of “fans and critics” that got him the country's top job after Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was forced to shorten the transition period from 2010 to March 2009.
"So how in the world can this new captain and his opportunist advisers claim that IT WAS THEIR STRATEGY THAT WROUGHT THE CAPTAINCY from the just retired captain?" he wrote.
He said the assumption was that Najib would be "more than grateful to the fans and critics" who did the job "to boot out the underperforming captain".
"To the utter consternation of the fans and critics, this new captain was not only ungrateful but worse, he has informed his opportunist ‘advisers’ (a carbon copy of the 4th Floor Boys) that he intends to appoint the moribund and just retired captain as his adviser," he added.

It's a scary thought but maybe we can only have true nation building AFTER the wealth in natural resources has been completely depleted and there's nothing more for the corrupt to fight for... and a whole generation of two will suffer for it.
Notice how fast countries with no natural resources like Singapore, Korea and Japan build themselves up.

Mahathir 's time is up. Accept it gracefully and beat it ! As an advisor to Mahathir, it's your obligation to tell Mahathir exactly that. The PM is Najib, for god sake, let him call the shot !

Being a captain is not easy. Some are born with it. Once in a while there comes along a global treasure like our great Tun Dr M. He instinctively knows how to put the 'right people in the right place' without fear or favour. In addition, he knows what to do for the country exactly. There are jealous people of course, but I have this to say to them. Just look around. There was none in the world that has achieved what he has given to our nation during his 22 years in office.
PROBLEM:
People does not know how to administer the country. Therefore, they put forward the idea of KPI and others. Key Performance index was a fashionable corporate buzz term that emerged after year 2000. It must be revised before it can be applied to measure the performance of all MPs and ADUNs. What the MPs and ADUNs have done for the people of Malaysia is more than just looking at the figures alone. I actually prefer the word matrix.
MATRIX:
AIG, GM, Lehman Brothers, AT&T, Bear Sterns and many others failed. There are actually harmful agents that create massive unemployment throughout the world. The contagion is now on Malaysian shore as we are seeing in the likes of CIMB, MAS, TM and others. Even our Federal Government is now adopting it like downsizing and merging. Compare with the managers 30 years ago. Is the so call modern management practice better? What is progress if there are a million of unemployed in Malaysia?
REMEDY:
Measure the 'national value' of our MPs, ADUNs, CIMB, MAS, Khazanah and others. Mark them and ship out those that are harmful to our nation. As an example, Southern Bank and Bank Bumiputra existed in our town to provide banking services 30 years ago. It was a healthy competition and people were gainfully employed. Now our hard earn cash is shifted around the world by the investment branch of CIMB. It is like punting in a Casino. Is it not better that we use our funds, our resources, to serve the people of Malaysia first?
NATIONAL RESOURCES:
The Federal Government must not insist on doing its own way only unless it is absolutely right. There are many resources at its disposal. The likes of ISIS, IJN, NGOs and others. Those who has the capacity and capability should also chip in to guide our Federal Government regardless of their political leanings. Our great Tun Dr M and the honourable Matthias Chang had voiced their concern. Intermediaries (science, economics, management, energy, telecommunication, security), mainly NGOs, could be formed to be the input to the Federal Government.
REVIEW:
Is the PR administration better in Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Perak better?
Can the PR Government do the job for the people in the states?
Is cronyism worse?
Is corruption worse?
Is the PR Government only do things in its own way and deceiving the people of Malaysia?
Is the PR Government listening to the movers and shakers only and created more unemployment in the states?
.......... and so on ..........

Watching this drama starting to unfold is most interesting! A runner of ex-ex PM is attacking the current captain. What is behind all these? Is there a strong current we are not seeing beneath the surface? I hope some political analyst will help us to understand the implications of this episode and the direction of subsequent episodes are heading.

When he wrote : "You better shape up fast or we will ship you and your team out!" , the "WE" represents himself, TDM and TDM's associates. But if he (Matthias) gets employed to also be amongst PM's advisers, then do want he (Matthias) has always, and continually done for TDM.
"Chang also chastised Najib for not offering anything new in his Cabinet." What it means is that the post of Senior Minister was not created for TDM.
Matthias, you have become irrelevant, just like TDM. Take a break, and write positive articles in your blog. Prepare for the next world.

Doesn't he has any other viewing angle, beside the same old one.
The phrase of you have been warned and etc..... is too general. Why don't be specific and see if you are born to be a fungshui master.

Who is this fella by the name of Matthias Chang.
OIC ..... another RUNNING DOG or one of the TM's DOGS.
Oh! ......he was the one who is best remembered for organising a tea ceremony where Chinese leaders offered tea to Dr Mahathir in September 2001 and also One of TM's Coordinator.
All that Chinese Leaders who sold off their own country men.
I bet that the Chinese Leaders did not offer teas to their own Fathers or Mothers during their birthdays or CYNs.
Wah!!!!!! They so obedient.
So he is trying to bark on behalf of his Master now.
Shut Up Lah Running Dog

Actually this old master is a naked old emperor as ordinary Malaysian public don't even listen and trust him. (Proof: the 2 Bukits in Perak n Kedah). Even ordinary UMNO members have actually rejected him (Proof : Coundn't even get elected as the party's Rep in his former constituency some years back. Next - not even a handful members followd him when he quitted UMNO last year. And then his own son couldn't make it in the Youth election despite his discrete campaign).
So why is he n his lap dog now so brave and arrogant as to even issue threats n ultimatum ? Because I think he feels he has got most of them by the balls. Remember he used to keep files on people working under him ? And how he used those to do his biddings during his reign? Maybe Tun AB was relatively clean, so didn't have a file or too thick a file so has to be brought down by other means - spreading rumours, inneundos and machinations but remeber, it took him 5 long years of hard work. But now this time, he thinks he can do it easier, faster and more confidently. Maybe, file very thick. So first test - resuurect the unwanted crooked bridge. Since no reaction from the intended target - so raise the threat level a bit using lap dog to bark warning. If no further reaction, more pressure to come . Interesting time ahead for Malaysians to savour........
