SHAH ALAM, April 25 — Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, who is known to be a champion of the "Malay unity" cause, is now urging the government to open up more of the economy to non-Malays.
The Selangor opposition leader, who had been critical of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) for appointing a non-Bumiputera to head PKNS last year, also wants more government jobs to be given to non-Malays.
In an interview with The Malaysian Insider yesterday, the former Selangor mentri besar said the New Economic Policy (NEP) policy had failed to meet its targets and should be reformulated in line with the prime minister’s 1 Malaysia vision.
He said the measures were necessary if BN wanted to attract lost support from the non-Malay communities and young voters in the next general election.
“Real changes and not window dressing are needed in order for Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia vision to become reality.”
He said in his opinion, 1 Malaysia meant the country belonged to all races and no one should be left out economically.
Dr Mohd Khir also urged the government to open more sub-sectors to non-Malays especially in local authorities and for more government jobs to be set aside for them.
He pointed out that the Indian community was especially in need of help.
“I realised this a bit too late, and only during my fifth year as mentri besar, because I was not told about how bad things were for them.”
He said he only knew something was seriously wrong when informed by the police that 40 per cent of crimes committed involved the Indian community.
He said he was shocked to learn that some estate workers earned between RM400 and RM500 a month only when he visited an estate in Kuala Selangor.
He claimed that he then set aside RM3 million annually for them.
Dr Mohd Khir said the new Najib administration had made a mistake by abolishing the Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry as it could have been reformed and used as a vehicle to develop entrepreneurs among all races.
“Special attention should still be given to Malays but deputy ministers should be appointed to look after the Indian and Chinese communities.”

You're like a snake, slitthering in the tall grass, waiting . . . . waiting . . . . .
The Rakyat has already seen what damage you are capable of doing during your time as Selangor MB, and then as opposition MP, you spew venom and make accusations. Do you think you will be re-elected come GE13?
Do you think the Rakyat will let you get away with having spent so much money visiting "Disneyland" and how you "brag" about being chairman, you're entitled to first class and all the perks. That's just pure arrogance and ignorance, not a stateman's or even a leader's mentality.
Leaders lead by example, and if you are leading by example, you are encouraging your subordinates to pillage and steal from the Rakyat! If you fly economy, well, do you think your subordinates would dare fly business or first class? Do you think they would dare to demand expensive gifts if their boss was frugal?
Sometimes, I think there's no filter between your brain and your mouth, and everything just comes rolling out . . . . . . it's pure verbal vomit!
So, count the days that you have left, coz' you deserve to be thrown out and land on your belakang . . . . . You and your wife are modern day pillagers and if there's any justice, both of you should be thrown in jail for corruption, breach of fiduciary duty and a host of other charges! Lucky you that the MACC is incompetent and blind.

It is plain and simple. You were not fit to be at the position you were. You were not the type of Chief Minister the country or the state wants.

Yes, we should trust Khir Toyo to provide more government jobs to the non-Malays. We should also encourage convicted paedophiles to run kindergardens.

He is cute, isn' he? Did he think Samy Vellu is the typical Indian? I bet he still could not understand why Hindraf could have any issues with BN?
Yes, Khir Toyo, you too could learn a thing or two by visiting the kampungs, villages and estates much more that what you could learn in your multimillion Ringgit trip to Disneyland.

Do Malaysians believed what Toyo had said matched what his real true color on non Malay issues ?
Do his Masters agreed with his changed of tune now?
Malaysians read, listen and see what he had said about non Malays and played up dirty politics on current MB Selangor, Teresa Kok and other PR leaders. Well, the Malaysians are too smart enough to trust his reform agendas in helping non-Malay communities.

Khir urges the government to open up to non-Malays? Non-Malays like Javanese maybe? I can't believe he said that he didn't know the situation of the estate Indians until after FIVE years of being MB. Which reasonably-informed person in Malaysia has no inkling about just how bad the situation is with the Indians in the estate? What sort of ignoramous has BN appointed to be the MB of Selangor? Did the Selangor government not have an Indian exco before this? Or at least an Indian state assemblyman? Why on earth did that MIC man not inform Khir Toyo about the situation of poor Indians?
During a recent debate on TV9 recently, Khir was arrogantly defending Malay rights to the exclusion of others. He even expressed his worries that Malays may be put on an equal footing with other races. That debate was conducted well after his fifth year as MB, in fact, when he was already booted out as MB. So, all the 'realisation' that many non-Malays are poor and deserving of help during his fifth year as MB wasn't of any help at all.
Khir shoots at his foot everytime he speaks. Looking at his poor grasp on general knowledge (by his own admission), he probably earnestly expects Malaysians to have minds like his and buy his latest antic.

A fellow who blatantly condoned misappropriation of public funds for his trips overseas and also the purchase of properties (of all the places in the Holy Land) in his name, and who gave the green light to demolish a temple in Kg Jawa, Klang is now talking only about fair treatment for all - after he has no power.
So why interview him now and get his words of wisdom featured online/
So that the Tamil print media can be 'coaxed' to translate this piece and feature it in their publications?
Is that not a bit too late?
The present Selangor government is already moving forward with its promises pledged last year.
But Khir Toyo and his group are seen as trying hard to throw in the deterrents into the efforts of the state government. This is the fellow who actually wants to champion for the people?
He has even the cheek to say that he was happy that Elizabeth will remain as exco-member and ADUN, as it will give him a chance to 'play' politics! Imagine how he would react if one of his own family members were unwillingly recorded in such private poses, and it was on the internet? He will still say that the person in the pose was the one at fault?
Its too late for him to showcase himself as the champion of all ethnic groups.
He got no time even for the Mah Meri in Carey Island, and did not budge when the Orang Aslis pleaded for proper treatment when the government took over their land for highway construction.
The best he shoudl do now, as he has all the time in the world, is to take stock of all his assets and cash to establish honestly what percentage is actually halal and whether even the halal protions have been duly declared and proper zakat paid.
For the haram portions, follow what the Holy Book and the prophet say and dispose off these to the needy. Then 'bertaubat' and stay away from being a pest to people who have taken over and are trying to do a better job.
If he does that, people will at least remember him as one who laid the solid foundations for the state to progress even further and also as a role model of a person who really repented.
People are more sympathetic to those who really repent and encourage fairplay as well as non-corrupt way of life.
Khir Toyo is not there yet, as he has so much to clear and divest.

How else is PAS winning over Malaysians of other religions? PAS is seen to have more integrity than even the DAP, not to mentioned PKR, and the other BN parties, most of which are deemed to be rotten, with UMNO being seen to be corrupt and rotten to the core.
One is allowed to change but like UMNO, where have we been shown that they want to change. Look at the manipulation of the MACC, EC and the judiciary to tow the line of UMNO.
Malaysians are no fools, at least not anymore.
We want to see proof that ntyhey are serious about change. By nthat, we expect UMNO to report the corrupt. Stop using the independent institutions to its advantage. We want equitable institution who are people oriented and not pander institutions who pander to the authorities.
We want to see UMNO/BN loosen themselves from the judiciary, MACC, EC, Police, etc. We want to see de-UMNO isation of the civil service.

Why so many Indian gangsters? Why so many Chinese Ah Longs and VCD peddlers? UMNO's NEP is driving the minorities to the brink. The less competitive ones among the minorities have no choice but to resort to illegal means to make a living and to protect themselves. NEP should be abolished or totally restructured for all races so that everyone have a chance and do not need to resort to illegal activities. The Malays may be poor but because there is NEP for them they don't have these problems. The worst is become a Mat Rempit. What were the criteria used in getting Selangor the status? You are now telling us that your officers were telling you what you want to hear and not report the exact situation to you. That is one reason why Selcat is formed to give the state govt a system of check and balance and to prevent cover-ups and abuse of power and is not a witch hunting exercise.
Setting 3million annually to help the hardcore poor Indians is no big deal compared to the amount of money you used for your study trips to Disneyland as exposed by Selcat.

He opposed the appointment of a Chinese lady to head the PKNS, which, incidentally, is the Selangor state government's vehicle which works PRIMARILY for the betterment of the Malays. Toyo cited that the head of such an organisation should be helmed by a Malay-Muslim, which makes one wonder out loud what has race and religion to do with the management of a state institution? If not for the parochial and block-headed moron that they proved themselves to be?!
In state matters, from local councilor posts to just any other jobs or works or whatnots, one ethnicity was given preference to others. If this is not PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION, WHAT IS?
Sadly, but couldn't be more true, such kind of posturing and positioning reigned the mentality, actions, minds and soul of the "ketuanan-centric" government and individuals of the past Selangor state government ( helmed by the same unmistakable Khir Toyo ), and which is reflective of even the current BN-UMNO setup and the central government and their agencies. Such is the standard approach which had been the hallmark and trademark of the government for the past few decades.
The rakyat cannot be blamed to feel nauseated and indignant, outraged and peeved by all the utter unfair and ridiculously biased policies dished out to them. There are injustices and all sorts of nonsensical excuses and cover-ups to make sense of the mismanagement and misgovernance. All in the name of creating a level playing field among the various ethnic groups in the country. All in the name of "special privileges" for one and selective discrimination for others.
Corruption, cover-ups, blank-checked projects and government contracts, cloaked monopolies, abuse and misuse of government ( read: the people's ) machineries and instruments, unaccounted for expenditures, power abuses, etc., etc. and a myriad of other unacceptable and disgusting actions and activities and policies still prevail.
What could the rakyat do except to show their utter contempt and disgust at the ruling party and government? The rakyat in their attacks on the abuse and corruption have to risk facing and contend with possible accusation of breaking government rules and provisions of the laws and to bear the brunt of the barrage of government threats and pressure from interest groups to keep silent. Isn't such veiled threats a form of persecution and outright bully?
Now he wants to make amends, calling on the government to "open" its doors to more non-Malays and non-Bumiputeras. Wow!
Among others, his wish list includes:
> reformulate NEP ( the aim being: " the measures were necessary if BN wanted to attract lost support from the non-Malay communities and young voters in the next general election." )
> 1 Malaysia meant the country belonged to all races and no one should be left out economically ( “Real changes and not window dressing are needed in order for Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia vision to become reality.”)
> the government to open more sub-sectors to non-Malays especially in local authorities and for more government jobs to be set aside for them.
> Indian community was especially in need of help, so help should be given to them in view that "something was seriously wrong when informed by the police that 40 per cent of crimes committed involved the Indian community." And "he was shocked to learn that some estate workers earned between RM400 and RM500 a month only when he visited an estate in Kuala Selangor."
What a revelation! What a great discovery! Wow, wow and wow!
Such kind of troubles and problems already existed for umpteen donkey years and only recently Toyo found out about them, when they ( the problems ) are starkly obvious even to the blind! Literally! The blind could have read about them through the braille translation.
Social problem were highlighted in the media so frequently that no one could have missed them.
Now, WHAT IS THE CATCH? WHAT IS THE "UDANG" BEHIND THE STONES? Suddenly Toyo is so impartial and gentlemanly, which is not him?
A wee bit too late Toyo. The dies had been cast. The writings were already written in stones. Bad blood had been spilled. You can only appeal to the Almighty God.
It is JUDGMENT DAY for you and all those who had erred.
God had been watching. And HE is still watching over us.
