LANGKAWI, May 7 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is building a yacht called ‘Apanama’.
It is a term that all Malaysians have come to be familiar with after 22 years of his leadership as the prime minister of the country. It is the term he uses when pausing, in mid-sentence, trying to think of the next word(s) to complete his sentence, or in the middle of describing issues.
His trademark humour was evident when Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat gave him the registration certificate for the yacht that is due to be completed in September.
Ong added ‘Apanama’ is the 100th yacht in Langkawi ‘s international boat registration system which was initiated by Dr Mahathir, who has turned the island into a global yachting destination.
“We hope to register 150 yachts by year end, including those of mega size,” he added.
Launched in 2003, international boat registration has received good response from the local and international maritime communities. — Bernama

The whole nation is worried with the brutal developments in Perak, and this apa nama is busy with the yacht he is building with the money he siphoned out of the people's pockets from his 22 years of corruption-infested administration.

HE earned RM10000 amonth as PM,how could he afford.? Only haybraineds donot know where the monies come from ! DONATION la! What else?. Don't you see ,when our pm retired ,so many benevolent entrepreneurs donated tens of millions to his reseach foundation? But , really up to now ,I am yet to figure out what reseach he has done ! Biar saya tolong sambungkan..."apanama" yang beliau maksudkan itu sudah tentulah wang dari kroninya, dan dari rakyat yang diperah keringat sampai lumat.

C'mon la guys. The man wants to buy a yacht, let him buy la. So he named his boat with a quirky name, so be it la, it's his boat. Don't just always see things on the ugly side. A quick look at new prices for new 11m yacht range from AU$200k to up to AU$600k. Be reminded that it is a locally made yacht. He could have gotten a good deal from the company being that he did his best getting Langkawi where it is today. The company not only got a bit of a promotion, J.G. Challenge Sdn Bhd, they also made it known to the world they are capable of building a good yacht even if they're not from white man's land. Another quick look, suspects me that it too is operating the Telaga Harbour over in Langkawi. If those possibilities doesn't fit any of your scandal and consipiracy-laced mindset, then it could be the son who bought it for the old pappy. Whatever the reasons, he's retired. If he wants to spend his money on boats or making cakes, that's his right.
Btw, Nina Wansem, by your statement, should we all stop buying things because of the Perak circus? Should we stop until they make it right? Should we put on hold our desire to buy Hondas or Ikea bed frames or flat at Taman Indah or whatever things that we want to buy because of what your term as the country on the verge (not nerve) of a breakdown? I think not.
