KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — The MIC today launched its portal today, becoming the latest political party to join the cyber chase in a bid to woo more Indians to join or support the party.
The portal, launched by Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim here, will eventually be in three languages — Malay, English and Tamil.
“With more Malaysians going online now, the portal will also act as the MIC’s news organ and an online membership engine,” party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said.
The MIC portal will be the centre of information for the Indian community to attain the latest and accurate information on MIC. The community can now interact and communicate with the MIC anytime and anywhere in real time.
“We want to hear from the community, we want them to tell us what they want and how we could assist them. When we make mistakes, we want the community to let us know, to advise us and make recommendations,” he said.
The portal would be equipped with an eBlog, eForum and eCommunity apart from an ‘Opportunity’ search-engine for the relevant funds, loans, scholarships, jobs and other programmes made available to the Indian community by the government.
Samy Vellu said that with the portal, the party was now “better prepared” to face the onslaught of the opposition parties, unlike in the last general election when it gave less importance to online news portals and blogs.

Like your portal, MIC's strategies come too late. Malaysian Indians already moved ahead of you. See you later.
