KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — National badminton head coach Rexy Mainaky's wife suffered injuries when she was dragged by two snatch thieves in Ampang last night.
Cheras police chief ACP Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim said in the 11pm incident, Rexy and his wife Henny were walking to their car from a restaurant at Ampang City here when two assailants on a motorcycle tried to grab her handbag.
Henny was injured when she tussled with her assailant, causing her to be dragged and suffering minor injuries to her left arm.
Rexy jumped into his car and chased the suspects and knocked down the thieves’ motorcycle, causing the pillion rider to fall.
Ahmad Amir said passers-by caught the fallen suspect while his accomplice fled the scene.
He added the 33-year-old suspect had six previous records for molest, drugs and Restricted Residence Act offences.
"He will be remanded for four days to facilitate investigation," said Ahmad Amir, adding that police were looking for his accomplice, aged 40.
Meanwhile, Henny received treatment at a private hospital. — Bernama

How very sad that our national badminton coach should suffer this experience. Lets hope the police will investigate and take action to arrest this dangerous trend. Surely the PDRM cannot live with all this bad publicity. They need to sincerely work to restore the trust of the people.

The rakyat, especially the women, are not afraid of black shirts, candlelights or PKR. We're scared to death anytime we are out of our house because of the "imminent" danger posed by mad rempit, snatch thieves and road thugs. We don't even feel secure even when we are in our own home. I don't care much about who governs as long as we are safe and sound.

The reason why this sort of thing is perpetuated is because of the lack of presence of the men in blue. Every time this question crops up, the ready answer is that there is limited manpower and that one cannot expect the police to be every where every time. Sounds logical? Just try having a vigil or a gathering, then there will be hundreds of well equipped and ready 'law enforceres' swarming all over.

At the moment our police force are so heavily occupied, snatch thieves, robbers and rapists are having a gala time. The police force have no time to attend to such crimes as this is of no priority.

If the police is not working on preventing crime but working on supressing people, then it is only right the budget for the police be cut by half. There is no need to give them a big budget. DAP, please, in the next parliament sitting, put a motion to cut police expenditure.

What does that say to you? It says keep out, we feel unsafe. We need to hire our own private security force.
The fact is crime rate is very high. What we need is police making rounds, making their presence felt in the streets of Malaysia and not only in Puterajaya (where 40 policemen can arrest 3 men with a cake).
I am a taxpayer and I rather have the PDRM raiding crime syndicate hang outs then raiding DAP's headquarters. The only people who see DAP as a problem is BN.
