SINGAPORE, May 24 — The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, arrived in the city-state today for a follow-up treatment for a heart ailment at a hospital.
The Sultan was brought to Mt Elizabeth Hospital near Orchard Road, accompanied by his consort the Raja Perempuan of Kelantan.
The Sultan, who was flown in on a special aircraft from Pengkalan Chepa airport in Kelantan, arrived at the Changi Airport here at around noon.
Some visitors including Malaysians were seen entering and leaving the hospital. The Sultan, who is reported to be in stable condition, had been receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian since May 14 until the hospital authority there decided to bring him to the island republic for further treatment.
HUSM director Dr Zaidun Kamari was reported to have said yesterday that the Sultan, who was treated by a team of specialists from the hospital, the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, the National Heart Institute and the Mt Elizabeth Hospital, was in stable condition but not fully recovered.
Dr Zaidun said the Sultan was admitted to HUSM after he had complained of difficulty in breathing and after treatment it was found that the Sultan had a heart ailment. — Bernama
