JAKARTA, June 1 – Indonesian model Manohara Odelia Pinot’s escape was the page one lead for Jakarta tabloids and broadsheets apart from the nation’s online media, as she related her marital experience and run from her Kelantan prince husband.
The 17-year-old beauty has declared she will not return to her husband Tengku Muhammad Fakhry after her escape when she dramatically pushed the emergency button in a hotel lift in Singapore.
The reports said Indonesian embassy officials in Singapore together with the republic’s police force reunited her with her mother Daisy Fajarina who had publicised Manohara’s plight two months ago.
Friends of the Kelantan prince told the Indonesian media that he has denied her allegations and is willing to divorce her just 10 months after they were married last August 26.
Both the prince and Manohara were in Singapore where the Kelantan sultan is seeking treatment for a heart ailment.
Local press reports say the Indonesian-American beauty flew home Sunday morning and said she was no longer in love with the prince whom she accused of sexual abuse and violence.
“I am afraid of the daily sex abuse and violence,” the Banjarmasin Post quoted Manohara as saying.
Daisy had earlier claimed her daughter was kept incommunicado since last February 26 after the family went to Mecca for a pilgrimage.
“I don’t sleep every day until about 4am in fear of getting an injection or being drugged,” said the model who was named one of Indonesia’s 100 Precious Women by Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
Family lawyer Yuli Andre Darma told reporters that Manohara has yet to decide her future and will stay at the family home in Slipi, west Jakarta.
“What is clear is she won’t decide in the near future. But it is up to Manohara whether she wants to return or not,” the lawyer said.

Shame on you The Star, New Straits Times, Utusan for printing the news that Manohara was fine and all was hunky dory when she and her abusive husband emerged at a wedding. As if you didn't know the fear that an abused wife faces especially when she is still living among the pro-UMNO Kelantan palace. You didn't even asked her did you whether she was abused?
All you lying sacks of potatoes did was take her photo and say she was fine and then come out and condemn the bloggers for spreading false news and ask bloggers to apologise. Who should apologise now Syed Nazri, Wong Chun Wai, Awang Selamat and the whole lot of you supporters of wife beating? We demand an apology from the useless mainstream media, but we won't be holding our breath for any.

Title: Model home safely after dramatic escape
Joyful return: Daisy Fajarina kisses her daughter Manohara Odelia at their residence in Slipi, West Jakarta on Sunday, shortly after speaking with journalists about Monohara’s dramatic escape from a hotel in Singapore. JP/R.Berto Wedhatama
Daisy Fajarina proved she was not just being an overprotective mother or looking for instant fame as she and her daughter, Manohara Odelia Pinot, joyfully returned to Jakarta on Sunday, after a dramatic escape from a hotel in Singapore where Manohara was kept by her allegedly abusive royal husband.
Speaking to a press conference in Jakarta, the Indonesian model recounted her dramatic escape: she had to hideout in a bathroom to buy time, refuse injections against her will and repeatedly pressed the emergency button on the elevator before Singaporean police came to rescue her.
“They then brought me to a room. Mother came to me not long after and I embraced her at once,” she said, as quoted by Detik.com.
Daisy had frequently appeared on TV gossip shows claiming her 17-year-old daughter had been kidnapped and abused by her husband, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry, the prince of the Kelantan Sultanate. She pleaded for the help of government officials, lawmakers, rights activists and religious leaders to release her daughter, while her in-laws in Malaysia downplayed her allegations.
Manohara said she was in Singapore to visit Kelantan Sultan Ismail Petra, who was brought to the city-state for heart treatment. She was informed by a member of the Kelantan sultanate, whom she declined to name, that her mother would meet her there and take her home.
The royal family initially planned to stay there for five weeks but when they knew Daisy was flying to Singapore they decided to shorten their visit, Manohara told reporters. She said she was about to be locked in the sultan’s room before she managed to escape.
Daisy’s lawyer, Yuli Andre Darma, was quoted by Detik.com as saying Daisy coordinated with the American and Indonesian Embassies in Singapore to rescue Manohara after receiving information of Manohara’s visit. An FBI agent, he added, was also involved in the rescue mission.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah confirmed the involvement of US embassy officials, but said he did not know whether the US Federal Bureau of Investigation took part in the process. “I cannot verify that,” he said.
The US embassy was involved because the biological father of Manohara is an American, which makes her an American national, he said. He denied the embassies had orchestrated the rescue mission with Daisy and her lawyers. “The US and Indonesian embassies were contacted by the Singaporean police [after they rescued her].”
Upon her return, Manohara confirmed her mother’s claims of ill-treatment at the hands of her husband, saying that hers was just one example of how bad Indonesians are treated in their neighboring country.
She said her husband thought of her as his “property” and that she was treated like a “toy” during her stay with the royal family. “To Fakhry, Mano is like a toy. Fakhry said, ‘you are my property’,” she said.
She said that she had been sexually abused by her husband, who at one time slashed her with a razor. She was also forced to receive fertility injections.
Daisy’s lawyers said they would report Fakhry to the police now that they have evidence of the abuse. “Manohara’s arrival and her testimony that she had been ill-treated are evidence that this is not mere gossip,” Darma said.
Manohara also called for the ousting of Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia, Dai Bachtiar, for failing to help her and instead telling the media she was fine. The Foreign Ministry, however, said the demand was out of proportion, adding that the embassy there had done what it could.
Manohara is seeking a divorce.

MSM report on this in April, spinning it out of context. We dont forget!!!!
Now they say "friends" of the prince denied these abuse allegations and the price was willing to divorce her. why appear so loving back in April and pretend all is fine? When Najib declined to comment on the issue during his visit to Jakarta, it is already a clear sign what is mentioned is the truth.
Headlines all over just across the straits. As usual, our MSM is not reporting her escape and her story. Really a shame & I am not surprised if they say this is "self-censorship" by the press.

There are also occassions where the authorities are not helpful, thinking that it is just one of the ordinary domestic problems. Moreover they hate going to the court as witnesses.
These wife beaters should be dealt with and punished with at least 20 lashes of the cane. BUT the wives MUST expose the torture they are facing instead of denying or trying to give their husbands second changes.
There are also many wives who prefer to conceal the matter for years, still hoping for change and some waited until old age. This is just foolish and if the women chose not to take action despite the repeated abuses for years, then they rightly deserve it.
According to the law, neighbours or persons who know about the abuses could also report on behalf of the victims. Infact if the women died due to the abuses and the neighbour knew but did not report to the authorities, they can also be prosecuted for not taking the action to report. But these neighbours would be facing a dilema as being seen as busy bodies, more so if the victim themselves refused to concur with the neighbour's report.

Here is the option :
1) Divorce. Just name your price, get pay and get over with it..
2) Prepare to have short-episod of diplomatic drama for probably 1 - 2 month and get nothing out of it.
3) Sue the prince for abuse, if you can...but in this part of the world...dream on.
4) Write a book and earn some educational fund..after all the above.
Dear Monahara, if you read this comment (if this manage to slip MI censorship), I am not mean or heartless...what you did with you life was pure gamble and too bad, the result was not what you expected...btw this sad episod do serve a good wake-up call to those young folly teenage girl. Good luck to you, stay calm and for heavan sake, try use a bit of your brain this time !

Hey, the DPM, don't you have a sense of righteousness. What is moral. A common man who know such matter that happen to a neighbour would aalso report to the police and you in such a "respectable" position do nothing about it. It is a shame on the nation. We Malaysian must stand up for what is right.

What can we do anyway? Its upsetting that there are people above the law so what can we say? We can only sympathise with her hoping it wont recur anymore. Its so hard to explain to people who are our neighbours yet have laws that can stifle anyone, we cant do that.

As it is we are still wondering how arrival details of a North Asian pregant female went missing.
She too is now no more!
The Indonesian lass was a bit more lucky.
Though she was 'taken away' from the Middle East to Malaysia, she managed to return to Indonesia via Singapore. Most important, she is still alive. Thats what matters.
We cannot afford to have another foreign female, going missing in this beloved country.

If we continue to tolerate this behavior from our supposed "betters" then we are just a guilty as they are of perpetuating this situation.
Malaysia deserves better leaders. They should demand it. In fact, I call on all Malaysians to not recognize the royal family unless and until they clear their names in an international court of law. Do NOT TOLERATE corrupt, sick, abusive leaders. OUST THEM.
