SHAH ALAM, June 7 – He may not be aware of the irony but when Nasharudin Mat Isa, deputy president of PAS, said Nik Aziz Nik’s views do not represent the party, it is akin to the Islamist party rejecting its soul as the Tok Guru is PAS spiritual leader.
Nasharudin was, of course, referring to Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s speech at the muktamar last night, when he rubbished talk of a unity government.
“That is the opinion of Tok Guru, but in the organisation we take the party’s stance. Now there isn’t actually any concrete decision made by the party with regards Umno. The issue will be decided by the party,” he said.
Speaking at a ceramah held in conjunction with the party’s 55th muktamar (general assembly), Nik Aziz said those who speak of co-operation with Umno are apparently oblivious to the rivalry between these two arch-rivals throughout their existence.
Nasharudin added that PAS should not “shut the door” on having a dialogue with Umno even though Umno is PAS’s political enemy. He also continued defending the unity talks and said it was a necessity for the betterment of the nation.
“There are many current issues which need to be settled and answered. We think that being a major political organisation, we can contribute by trying to make an impact on the nation,” he added.
Nasharudin further defended the president’s engagement policy and stressed the importance of the party having an open attitude in order to remain relevant in the nation’s politics.
“We have an open attitude when it comes to holding discussions and we did not specify with whom. If MIC wants to discuss with us, we do not have any problem. If the problematic PPP wants to discuss and join Pakatan Rakyat then we welcome them to join,” he explained.
Nasharudin also confirmed that he is on good terms with defeated PAS deputy presidential contender Datuk Husam Musa.
“He was the vice president of the party for two years when I was the deputy and we have worked well together. There were committees that he headed and committees that I headed,” he said.
Nasharudin commented that it is up to him to recommend a position for Husam in the party’s central committee and that the party will meet on Wednesday to discuss this very issue.

Do you have to mention that you need to form a unity government just because you want to discuss issues with UMNO or any other parties, NGOs, etc etc.
The issues can be discussed in any forum and it does not need the two parties to form a unity government just to solve problems. The main criteria is the sincerity of both sides to solve the problems.

Nasa memang semakin berani menyemarakkan api perpecahan dalam PAS dan juga terang-terang menentang Mursyidul Am PAS. Sudah berkali-kali Mursyidul Am memberi amaran kepada dalang-dalang pro-UMNO di dalam PAS supaya berhenti dari memecahbelahkan PAS dengan matlamat mereka bersetubuh dengan UMNO.
Memang Tok Guru bukan PAS tetapi pihak Terengganu juga jangan ingat mereka pandai sangat. Kalaulah mereka sangat hebat, akidah tinggi, kuat - kenapa orang Melayu di Ganu tetap menolak PAS Terengganu? Malah dalam tsunami politik 2008, PAS Ganu hanya berjaya memang sedikit sahaja berbanding di Kelantan. Ini jelas tunjuk majoriti Melayu di Ganu pun menolak PAS Ganu di bawah pimpinan Hadi. Di negeri sendiri pun tidak boleh menang, sekarang mereka mahu menguasai Malaysia pulak. It looks like Nasha and Hadi are not giving up on unity government with UMNO and is more committed to pursue the idea.
Few things can happen.

One of the main reason that I think Nasarudin wants to unite with UMNO is for the Malays , Islam and Rulers in Malaysia to hold on to the special priviledge that was given to them, - that is to continue being served by the other races. The other races ( the common rakyat) have worked hard and bring most of the wealth into this country and the Malays ( a majority of them, ) are enjoying its fruits with little efforts. What may appear sensible and proactive for UMNO, being the dominant party in the BN coalition, is to recognize the moral issues and the impact of their bad policies on the Muslim Community across UMNO and PAS divide. The implication is obvious - if they're brave and bold, nothing should prevent them from appointing a PR MP as a member of the Executive who will have the full resources at his disposal to formulate and implement policies for the good of ALL Malaysians. They do that in more mature democracies.

As a non-Muslim, I was delighted with the leaders in PAS such as Khalid Samad, Nizar, Husam, Tok Guru Nik Aziz, etc. This is because they listened to all Malaysian and their goal is to serve all Malaysian. Sheeesssh! Some of these Ulamaks in PAS are nothing more than bookworms. Yes, they can memorise every sentence in the Koran but they don't know the deeper meanings of the written word.
In Tok Guru, we have a spirutual leader who has indeed transcended the written word and actually is a true practitioner of Islam in every way.
I am afraid that if PAS continues to be run by leaders who can only pass exams, then their policies will only be skin deep, pun intended. They won't be able to see beyond colours and the only colour they crave for is that of the materialistic kind. And when that happens, things quickly becomes 'Talibanised'.
DSAI needs to tread carefully here and so do DAP as a 'talibanised PAS' is still very much a juvenile, regardless of how long their beards and goatees are.

As a non Muslim, I understand better Tok Guru's stand on UMNO (BN) than even the PAS ulama members themselves! Can heaven and hell merge? I am sorry with the outcome of the PAS election which choose narrow minded stand about "Thou being more holy than others" stand than the all encompassing God is Great! He encompasses righteousness to all even non Muslims. In my opinion, PAS ulamas' attitude about their God is rather small. I am glad people like Tok Guru and his disciples are worthy of their belief that their God is a big god, creator of all things beautiful and just. And you wonder why people are skeptical about the PAS religious members who are petty about the trivials and don't know what to do for great things except to protect small interests. I wonder how their God looks upon them as not trusting Him enough to do great things but have to do deal with the 'devil' by themselves to work things out! Talk about having faith!

When they cannot secure Selangor MB post , they try to talk to UMNO to bring PR down,

Yes, Nik Aziz is not PAS. Nasha and Hadi are also not PAS. As I see it, the cooperation with UMNO is still born and a non starter. The PAS grassroots will never allow such things. My feeling is that Hadi made a mistake in suggesting it before, and he cannot be seen to go back on his words. His statement on the unity govt is just to save face, and played up by the mainstream media.
Another way of looking at it is that PAS is confident of pulling in UMNO members into the party in order to weaken UMNO, and with that it will be the leader of PKR. UMNO on the other hand, thinks that by cooperating with PAS, it will weaken PKR, and thus emboldening UMNO, which is now at it's lowest strensth.

I think it is still too early to say if Nasharrudin Mat Isa will throw in his lot into UMNO. Nasharrudin is an ambitious politician and he thinks that by pandering to the call by UMNO, he can be seen to champion Malay and Muslim rights; but to my mind he is merely posturing his apparently total commitment to the Malays and Muslims. I say it is too early because IF pAKATAN rAKYAT WINS THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS THEN WE CAN SEE THE TRUE COLOUR OF MAT ISA.
I believe our (non Muslims) hopes lies in a powerful father figure like Dato Seri Nizar Jamaluddin, Mentri Besar of Perak. The case for an appeal to the Federal Court on the issue of who is the rightful Mentri Besar of Perak, in view of the scholarly and expert opinion of Prof. Andrew Harding, has only one way to go, and that is to the Federal court. I do not think the likes of Dato Mohd. Shariff and that other Dato Zainon Ali carry any weight; these are light weight; but of course there is the possibility that these pretend judges will abuse their powers and in that case then lawlessness prevails. I know the quality of Judge Zainon Ali's learning of the law, and the less said the better.
Perak will eventually return to be decided by the voters and that the outcome is the return of the government of the Pakatan Rakyat; and this is the momentum that I have been speaking of for a long time. There is no doubt that Pakatan Rakyat will take government at the Federal Level. This si the only outcome that is viable to take Malaysia into the 21st century because under the UMNO government Malaysia is the minow of Asia.
If Pakatan Rakyat will fail in their attempt to take government, then to my mind the likes of Mat Isa will sow the seeds of discourt and spell the end of a powerful opposition to the unhealthy rule of the UMNO. Malaysia needs a Pakatan Rakyat government or bust. If the Pakatan Rakyat does not win then the support by the Chinese for the PAS too will fall; and this is bad for all Malaysians because politics will again polarise society like the past 51 years and there will be not just one Malaysia but there will be 3 Malaysia.

Saya dapati komen-komen diatas menunjukkan mereka (penulisnya) tidak memahami situasi sebenar yang berlaku. PAS bukan sahaja sebuah parti politik malah sebagai satu badan dakwah. Dalam bab ini PAS bukan hendak berpadu tenaga atau bergabung membentuk sebuah kerajaan bersama UMNO. Tetapi sebagai parti yang memperjuangkan Islam, PAS harus mengajak serta membawa semua pihak ke jalan benar yang diredhai ALlah. Ya! Memang UMNO jahat pada pandangan mata kita tetapi itu ialah pada segelintir pemimpin tertentu mereka pada berbagai peringkat. Bagaimana dengan kebanyakan ahli-ahli di peringkat bawahan atau akar umbi yang tidak mengerti apa-apa dan menjadi pengikut sahaja. Sanggupkah kita membiarkan mereka hanyut tenggelam dengan bahtera UMNO yang telah bocor itu. Ini menjadi tugas kita sebenarnya untuk menyelamatkan mereka. Di sini PAS sebagai komponen Pakatan Rakyat boleh memainkan peranan utama. PAS bukan mabuk kuasa atau cuba mengkhianati sesiapa juga. Islam mewajibkan umatnya untuk menolong serta menyelamatkan sesiapa juga dari kesesatan tanpa mengira bangsa, agama, darjat. Atas dasar ini jugalah PAS dan pemimpinnya yang benar-benar menghayati Islam sanggup menghadapi tohmahan dan cacian bagi menegakkan yang hak. Jika anda mengambil sikap hanya untuk kepentingan diri sendiri, tidak mempedulikan untung nasib orang lain bermakna anda semua adalah syaitan yang bertopengkan manusia.

The PAS result has surprised me as what has been portrayed by the alternative media in particular the malaysian insider is that the views of husam, khalid samad and the like prevail in PAS. When I saw a few delegates to the PAS muktamar who promoted the cherished principles that ulamas or clerics are to lead PAS, I thought they were out of tune with the current development. But the result clearly shows by a wide margin how PAS members still hold on to the principles that they had held dearly for years: that the country is to be lead by ulama, that islamic agenda should not be compromised in particular the the islamic state and righteous personal values are important. They have not changed at all in terms of principles.
Why then are we misled? The writings and criticisms above clearly show a departure from the respect of core PAS supporters of the ulama. They would not have criticised an Ulama like the above. It can hardly be said that the above represent what PAS members believe. Why is there a vast gulf between what is reported by MI and the view of most ordinary PAS folks which led to the disillusionments?. The alternative media in particular the Malaysian Insider must stop pushing their agenda at all costs disregarding the realities outside and should report the truth based on fairness and balance. To mislead to what they have done is utterly reprehensible.
