The ministry had earlier restricted the full report to be only accessed within the Port Klang Authority (PKA) office for two weeks after May 28 and for perusal by the parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) during their deliberations, raising the ire of the DAP supremo who has been campaigning for full disclosure in what he called a “RM12.5 billion rip-off”.
“The 300 copies are being printed and will be sent over to Parliament by Monday afternoon as the appendices run into hundreds of pages thick. It will be up to the Parliament when the copies will be distributed to the MPs,” said the ministry in a brief statement at the government portal on the scandal www.pkfznews.com.my.
It said the transport minister has “consented to distribute 300 copies of the Pricewaterhousecoopers Position Review on PKFZ, including the appendices, to all Members of Parliament. This follows a request dated June 12 from the Parliament Secretary.”
“Minister of Transport Dato’ Sri Ong Tee Keat has decided to meet the request in the name of transparency and accountability. The PwC report has been made public in its entirety, and is also accessible online since its release on May 28,” the statement said.
The PwC report released on May 28 showed the project’s cost may ultimately spiral to as much as RM12.5 billion, saying the project was marked by weak governance and project management apart from possible overpayment for land and other costs.
