KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — The former Bar Council president wants Barisan Nasional (BN) to let the people and not the courts decide on Perak's mentri besar.
“The answer is to go back to the people because the people will not be satisfied until they get their result and ultimately the power does belong to the people because once the people decides, everyone will accept it,” she said.
Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan was speaking at a public lecture here last night organised by the Chevening Alumni of Malaysia.
Ambiga added that BN would be able to get back much need credibility if the ruling coalition would go to the polls and drop all charges against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Do the right thing, just do the right thing and immediately people will say that they are quite reasonable but when you force these issues which people can read… we are not stupid, you cannot insult the intelligence of the people to understand what is really happening,” she said.
Ambiga stressed that BN would only be able to get the results it wants in the next general election if it gave the people what they wanted.
“You may lose a little bit this time but you would have gained a lot more,” she said.
During the question-and-answer session later, British High Commissioner Boyd McCleary agreed with Ambiga’s position on Perak and believed that the government should not oppose the will of the people in Perak.
“It looks to me as though over there, we have ended up with a situation where the government seems to have opposed the will of the people and that is wrong.
"The way forward for this government is to go back to the polls because even if they lose that battle they can still win the war by demonstrating that is the right way to go."

Dear Ambiga,
Add the following to the list, and then maybe we're cookin:-
1. Re-structure the MACC, Police, the Judiciary, the AG's office & the EC. Make the MACC them truly independent & answerable directly to Parliament.
2. Set up a RCI to investigate the murder of a certain lady
3. Obliterate the ISA
4. Review the laws on political hopping
5. Take real action on those implicated in the VK Lingam controversy
6. Bring those responsible for the PKFZ, the Scorpene/Lumut PSC Naval/Brickdenburry Sports Complex/Khir Toyo Disneyland etc to face the law
7. Re-structure contracts with the IPP/Toll concessionaires/water management co
The list ain't exhaustive, but you know where it's heading.

Firstly, replace the Election Commission's Chairman with someone not just fair but perceive to be fair by the people. Secondly, limit postal votes. It does not make any sense for all army personels to be place under postal votes. Thirdly, make it easy to register and open registration more frequently. fourthly, dissolve Perak Assembly and call for snap election.
Well, we know the result already. Pakatan will win by a land slide. Zambry may even loose his seat. Nizar got almost 90% of the votes. Will Pakatan win in the next GE. That depends on whether the government of the day is serious to reform, fight corruption, give independency to judiciary and ban racism.

So if the people want change, then a new qovernment have to be put in place. Hopefully PKR can fill its shoes but they too have clean up their act. With all the bickering among the partners and dissaticfaction expressed by the people in PKR control states are not helping either.

Ambiga, why don't you advise your good friend Anwar and Lim Kit Siang that they have lost Perak for now and let BN run the State until the next election. When Anwar went around saying that the BN MPs will be crossing over and when the BN assemblyman for Bota crossed over to PKR, where were you???
Advise Anwar and LKS that they will regain their credibility if they readily admit their mistakes and fault. Tell them, as Karpal Singh said, Bertaubatlah.

I am align with the statement and stand of Datuk Ambiga on "let the people of Perak decide the government they want instead of the courts". The reason is simple because it is the people who decides the government. This power is with the people.
If the BN government is a democratic government and their stand is for the betterment of the country in political stability, economic excellence and social harmony then the right thing to do is allow the people of Perak to decide through the ballot boxes for the rightful government of Perak. Going to the courts to decde only shows that the BN government is afraid of losing Perak and their so-called stand on democracy.
My stand is democracy. This absolute power lies only with the people and me.

Had UMNO played by fair and honest rules, they would not be where they are today - filthy opulence, mega kickbacks, stinking ketuanan, unimaginable and indefensible privileges and special rights and protection.
Accord others similar treatments, you can expect lots of screaming and a lot of people ( you KNOW who they are! ) WILL go berserk and running amok!
Such is the reality of politics in Malaysia.
The situation has gone totally out of hand, and you cannot possibly find a similar situation any place in this world, that even ALLAH has become a possession. Only God knows what has gone wrong.
Let's pray that good sense will prevail at the end of the day.

1. PKR has lots of power crazy and money greedy leaders.
2. DAP's traitor HEE is responsible for the BNs power grab in Perak.
3. The Malaysians are doubtful about PAS sincerity. Their new batch of leaders are already talking about
UNITY GOVT. DS Nizar is a good man but he is under PAS leadership. He has to listen to them.
3. BN leaders are moving their cards very carefully. If this continues, there is no PR by next GE.
4. Its 50-50 chances if there is an election in Perak.

They behave and rule like autocrats. Rope in the police, judiciary to connive with them and to a certain extent the MACC and the election commission also.
The Rakyat can live without UMNO but UMNO cannot live without the Rakyat. I hope they can get this message instead of talking about credibility, which is Dutch to them.

Do not underestimate the Pakatan as well, Dissolve the Perak State Assembly to show BN strength.
Do not over estimate yourself , you are not God, please dun talk as though you are one.
