KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 – Two policemen who rejected a RM500,000 bribe by drug traffickers caught with syabu worth RM280mil in May have each been given the Integrity Award.
Detective Corporal Mohd Surani Sarbini, 44, and Lance Corporal Mohd Tarmazi Arbayee, 25, were also promoted to Detective Sergeant and Corporal, respectively, for their part in the largest drug seizure by Malaysian police.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presented the award at a special ceremony at parliament house here today.
In the seizure at 6.45am on May 2, Mohd Surani and Mohd Tarmazi who were returning to Cenderawasih police station, Rompin, Pahang stopped a lorry laden with 96 boxes and 480 packages suspected to contain syabu.
They detained two men who later offered them a bribe of RM10,000 with promise of RM500,000 more after their release.
Mohd Surani from Rompin narcotic CID division said he believed that every member of the police should serve with integrity.
Mohd Tarmizi from Rompin Mobile Patrol Vehicle division said he turned down the bribe as he wanted to remain in the police force for a long time. – Bernama

It should be double or triple promotion and not just one jump in order to make the sacrifice more attractive.

So easy to get an award? Just by showing integrity ONCE doesn't make one a person of integrity. ANYWAY, it is EXPECTED of them to have integrity. So I don't understand the need for the award.
I am sorry I seem pessimistic, but as far as I can remember, our police force has never been 'clean' and so for the ONE time they PROJECT themselves as 'clean', I will NOT buy in.

Congratulations Detective Corporal Mohd Surani Sabini and Lance Corporal Mohd Tarmazi Arbayee for resisting the scourge to be corrupted with a whopping half a million RM. I wonder how many Officers in your situation could resist the great temptation to the massive amount that was offered by the corrupter? By your conduct, you not only displayed a high standard of morality, you also displayed what good and sincere Muslims you are. You also displayed a very high degree of integrity, honesty and trust that the Rakyat have placed on your young shoulders. You will be blessed by the Almighty, no doubt about that. You have also set a very high standard of honesty and good role models for your colleagues of all ranks to emulate. All Malaysians, and your friends and relatives will be very proud of you. No question about that. Keep up the excellent display of integrity and honesty and bring the corrupters and would be corrupters to justice. Shouldn't the two young Officers be promoted to a higher rank than just Sergeant and Corporal in recognition of their high standard of being incorruptible?

Everyday our enforcement officers are subjected to temptations and how many did fall into it, is everybody's guess . Why not the reward? If by rewarding them could saved the nation a lot of money and at the same time the money are put into the right place and good use, then this should be encouraged. In the current lifestyle of the world, almost all achievement are rewarded except a few exceptional cases. Whether in sports, acting, or professional jobs, its all about good rewards. But to reward for stopping smoking is a bit too far, as the money and health belongs to the individual. To reward the mat rempits is even worse. Has our leaders got the wisdom and will to think rationally and carry out their appointment without fear and favour?

They are like dinosaur, a rare species in the police force.
Sad to say we have to award integrity which supposed to be exsited in every policeman.
As long as corruption in the top remain intact, I say Malaysia be ready to be another Bangdalesh and Indonesia by 2020.

Isn't it's the basic quality and principle of the cops to be "CLEAN"?
and do they need to be rewarded for carrying out their MAIN duty?
who cares about the high raising criminal cases around the civilian?
who cares who throw out rubbish everywhere? what worse is on the highway...
where are we Malaysian heading to now a days? modernization? technology state of art buildings/infrastructures? getting fame in some worldwide activities?
but hey, look back on our own nation, all needed is not treated, but all unnecessary is granted.....
billlions and billions of money declared spent, spending on who's benefits? is it civilian?
Everyone knows the world is sick, what about Malaysia is already reaching ICU?
