KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Lawyer and Hindraf founder Uthayakumar Ponnusamy is expected to launch a new political party called Parti Hak Asasi Manusia or Paham at a major gathering of his supporters at the Hokkien Hall in Klang on July 19.
One of his close aides said, on condition of anonymity, that the application was submitted on June 18 and the Registrar of Societies had “acknowledged” the application in a letter.
However the key issue is whether the Registrar will approve the party’s registration by July 19.
“We are not worried. We are confident of getting registration as the constitution guarantees freedom of association,” the aide said, adding that the party would be launched “with or without” registration.
“It is our right and there should be no delay especially when registration was given to another party last month within a matter of days,” he said referring to the Makkal Sakthi Party Malaysia led by former Hindraf national co-coordinator R.S.Thanenthiran.
SMS messages being exchanged among Hindraf supporters claim that approval has already been obtained but Uthayakumar when contacted declined to comment.
“I am making a major announcement on July 19 and that’s all I can say for now,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
“My experience tells me and recent political developments prove it that we (Indians) need a third force.”
“We can rely on either Umno or Pakatan to help us,” he said declining to clarify what shape the third force would take.
“Wait for the announcement,” he said, adding that “we have a solution” for the Indian woes.
He said the Kampung Buah Pala incident in Penang is a “perfect example” of how Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in general and the DAP in particular had “washed their hands” of the Indian problems.
“They have the power to right the wrongs but give excuses like it is too expensive and so forth,” he said referring to the controversy gripping the DAP in Penang with Hindraf supporters demonstrating
outside DAP offices to force a stop of the development into luxury condominiums.
“They give the same kind of excuses that Umno had given to the Indians for half a century,” he said refuting claims that such acquisition was beyond the financial capacity of the state government.
His new party is another addition to a crowded and splintered field.
The Makkal Sakthi Party, after a fanfare announcement, has already disappeared from the national political scene like several other newly formed Indian political parties.
But Uthayakumar’s supporters say their party would be different as it would really fight for the downtrodden Indians unlike others in the Barisan Nasional (BN) and PR which offer similar promises but end up only offering excuses.

so i asked, what have Hindraf did for PR then? and if PR should exercise its "executive power" to favor indians in this land dispute, whats the difference between BN who does it to favor their cronies? PR is avoiding any sort of favorism...including this. but hindraf demanded otherwise. (so why fight BN in the 1st place?)
hypocritic? definately. no sense of direction? without a doubt. simply barking up any tree they could find? all the time.

The name, PAHAM, shown that it is mean for all. Since it is conflict of interest, either Ulta desolve or resign from Hindraf. Otherwise, another episode of many cases of conflicts of interest that already haunted our country.

It is very obvious that BN's stratergy to divide indians into many splinter groups so that it will not be a force to reckon with. Uthaya/Waytha are no different from the UMNO leaders. Uthaya/Waytha are taking advantage of the un-informed indians for their own selfish interest. This is exactly what UMNO did with the Malays. The Malays are now more wiser and are able to see thru UMNO. Unfortunately, the indians are begining to pick the pieces where the malays left off by supporting Uthaya/Waytha. Feel really for the divided indians. The indians will become even bigger losers by supporting all the splinter groups. If change is what the indians need, stick to PR and evaluate PR after at least 1 term.

right of any body, it will not help solve any of the problems facing the marginalised group which consist of the rural and urban poor. the penang problem is not a racial problems. the people in power will keep on misusing
their power and self enrich, while the underpreviledge group busy forming parties basing one race religion . so what if this new party capture all indian votes can it come to power? we have wasted 50 years trying to outwit
and out class other people but cannot see our problem is not what proported by the racist. our problem is
uneven distribution 0f resouces and income. malaysia has not suceeded in making its people rich
only suceeded to make a hamdful of people very rich. this is the problem

Param, many of us supported Hindraf in their protest because we believe that indians were marginalised by the BN. But our support was never unconditional. We still believe that the indians are marginalised but please look at the issue on its merits. If LGE actually did alienate or sell the land to DAP crony company then yes by all means please protest and I will join you. But he did not. KSK and BN govt did. Do you know what will happen if the Penang state govt were to acquire the land. There will be problems since there are a lot of UMNO sympathisers in the land office. The valuation will be very high. It will go to court. Guess who controls the court. BN will use this opportunity to make the Penang Govt bankrupt and at the same time enrich the very UMNO cronies who are behind it all. Who will win...UMNO of course and Hindraf would have aided and abbetted them in channelling funds to UMNO cronies in a Pakatan State!!!!
THE IRONY OF IT ALL!!!! Please think before protest!!!!

It is a case of too many generals with too few soldiers.
It is sad to see the united Hindraf's now so fragmented.
Who is fighting for the plights and welfare of the Indian community now ?

As for Kampung Buah Pala problem, dont simply blame DAP. U should blame UMNO/Gerakan and MCA. Dont be stupid to assume that DAP/Pakatan can solve every problem caused by BN and its cronies. They are law and agreement to be follow made by previous government. If the villager got Land Title or Grant then, they can sue the developer. The villager cannot pocket compensation and then complain of injustice.
By the way, do the villagers got any prove that they really vote for Pakatan? If so where the BN vote comes from? Please dont simply claim without prove.

Something is fishy.. Is some deal is going on with Umno during his ISA detention? First is to blame PR on Kampung Buah Pala when the cause is from BN. Then this breaking out of PR.. Trojan Horse strategy?..
PR should dump them.. His comment on Kampung Buah Pala that LGE can solve the problem with a stroke of his pen, make me think this guy is not fit to govern anything .. Wahh.. so easy.. then a stroke of pen already cancel Tol or even take over Water Utilities Service, don't need so much discussion..
Obviously he thought the whole GE12 result is effected from Hindraf's demonstration movement, so they would want to have the piece of the pie.. but i'm sorry to say that u guys Hindraf have lost my respect and sympathy i previously give u guys b'cos of the hash treatment fr BN..
U guys r going down.. don't u see.. look how many ppl turn up for demonstration yesterday? don't think rakyat is stupid to figure out u guys r power crazy?
If u still stick with PR, i suggest that the PR should not let u guys hold any position..(u might do anything just with a stroke of pen).. and this will clear u guys as non-power crazy..
Else go to Najib and give them ur flower..

You can accuse anyone for being ular but not UTHAYA.He is the man with principle who refused to get out from KEMTA, even after he was thrown out for refusing to sign the preconditions before he was released.I can imagine you (ISKANDAR) will be racing to sign the precondition if you would be arrested under ISA.
Its the right of the individual to form the party and it depend on the public on its survival.
LGE has deviated from his policy lately for serving the rakyat.Any comment against his policy will not be published in his blog.I doubt the survival of PR next GE.

After the March 8 election, things have change for the better, this can seen in the manner things are done in opposition control states, though many thing can be improved but it is only have been more than a year. You have to give them time, work with them to further improve the state and the people as whole including the Indian community. We have now more Indian leaders in position who will able to help the Indians.
But we have to remind our self that the Indian community is only a small minority, and we can't be making excessive demands which are difficult to meet. We should look at the bigger picture. Being a multi racial and multi religious country, we should work with the other communities/leaders who share our aspiration of helping the poor, the needy, the oppressed irrespective of race and ensure that the changes and development that taking place will bring the progress that all of us harping for.
So Uthayakumar, have some thought what I have said, you will realize that it will benefit the Indian community and nation in the long run. And another thing be very careful what you say and do, people are watching.

Maybe it is part of the plan that when Paham is formed the owner will return the land to the original owners and the success of it will be published widely and attributed to Paham. And Paham will slowly rise in fame as a party that can actually gets things done.
And from then on, it will rise further and further until the day like in a "ponzi" scheme, there is nothing left to deliver. Accusation will start flying like what is happening to MIC & PPP but the people behind Paham will probably be singing a different tune then.
"Flavour of the month" type of politics does more harm than good and do not last.
My take is you already have established indian parties like MIC & PPP. Join these parties and make changes within. Flood the parties with you supporters and kick out those blood sucking leeches.
Put in place after you have come into power a framework that will stand the test of times.

With Paham being registered I suggest all request for aid from the poor Indians should now be directed back to them for a solution since they say they are fighting for the downtrodden Indians and would be the best people to sort out the cause of these people's poverty. Let the other Malaysians then help the other poorer Malaysians, i.e minus the poor Indians!. Damn to all racialist parties.

Habib RAH, it is not the BN which had divided the Indians in this country... It is very clear now that it is the HIndraf.. with each of them in different parties and forming more and more parties. If Uthaya is sincere to help the Indians.. He should have started an effective NGO so that you can fight any Government in power. By starting a new party, he is exposing that he is power crazy and at the same time dividing the community.
