Manek Urai’s 33 Indians and 52 Chinese back BN, say MCA and MIC

KUALA KRAI, July 2 — Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties MCA and MIC have expressed confidence that the Chinese and Indian voters in Manek Urai will support the coalition in the by-election for the seat on July 14.

Kelantan MCA chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the 52 Chinese voters in the area had pledged their support to the BN.

"I'm confident that they have no problem supporting the BN," she told reporters after meeting the family of Ong Guan Chong, 73, at Kampung Meset, Manek Urai Lama today.

Ng said the Chinese voters were happy that the BN had chosen former Kesedar manager Tuan Aziz Tuan Mat as the candidate as he had done many good deeds for the people in the area.

Kelantan MIC chairman M. Kuppusamy said the 33 Indian voters in the area had also pledged their undivided support for the BN.

"I've just met them in Lepan Baru and they told me they will vote for the BN," he said. — Bernama
