PETALING JAYA, July 2 — DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has blamed the pullout of Kedah DAP from Pakatan Rakyat's (PR) coalition government in the state on "the failure of the PAS-led government to give equal treatment to all Kedahans."
In a press statement, the Bagan MP acknowledged a breakdown of trust within PR in Kedah, leading to the state DAP's decision which he called "a serious matter with large adverse national ramifications."
"It signals the complete lack of communication and respect from the Kedah PAS-led government... unlike the respect accorded to PAS in Penang," the Penang chief minister said.
While Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has attempted to play down various rifts in the fledgling alliance, DAP appears adamant that it will not back down in Kedah.
DAP's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang also called the controversy PR's "second crisis of confidence" in as many months following the controversial Umno-PAS unity government proposal.
The pullout was sparked by the demolition of the state's only pig abattoir yesterday with Kedah DAP chairman Thomas Su and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak contradicting each other over the status of a replacement site.
The DAP secretary-general said that Su cited the demolition of the slaughterhouse and last year's imposition of a 50 per cent Bumiputera housing quota as causes for the withdrawal.
"I would normally oppose such moves especially when based on a single issue and if there is still room to redress and correct the situation.
"However, the desperate nature of the situation and the breakdown of trust between Kedah DAP and the PAS mentri besar warrants a central committee meeting to endorse or oppose this withdrawal," Guan Eng said.
He said the meeting would only be called once he had received an official letter confirming the decision by Kedah DAP.

DAP please don't be the future running dog of BN..!!
