KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 – Parliament will have to wait until its October sitting before MPs get their hands on the full report of the RM12.5 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.
This is despite assurances from Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat that 300 copies of the “position review” along with appendices made up of official documents have been handed to the House to be distributed to its members.
However, Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee this morning repeated the stand of his colleagues that the reports would only be given to MPs after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had concluded its own probe into the matter.
“We cannot present the reports in stages,” he told Dewan Rakyat.
But M. Kulasegaran (DAP-Ipoh Barat) protested, saying the PAC was answerable to Parliament.
“It appears to me that PAC is more powerful and is controlling the House when it is a subsidiary of the House. It should be reporting to us, not controlling us,” he declared.
Saifuddin Nasution (PKR-Machang) also cited Standing Orders stating that once information was brought before the PAC, it is considered to be brought before the House.
“So if the PAC has the report, why can’t MPs also have it since it is considered to be before us?” he argued.
Yesterday, PAC chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said a full report on the PKFZ scandal would only be ready in three months and would be tabled in Parliament at its October meeting.
Various Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians including past and present MCA leaders have been implicated in the scandal which has seen an initial RM2 billion budget grow to over RM7.5 billion with another RM5 billion projected to be spent due to interest payments.

PKFZ is a gold mine and a real dark hole.
No wonder UMNO people are so rich lah. MCA/MIC/Gerakan without barking can get some shares, alsonot bad.
