KOTA BAHARU, July 5 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein today warned of tough action against Skudai (Johor) state assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau of the DAP if he continues to liken the Malay and Bumiputera affirmative policies to apartheid policies.
“Stop it. I will take stern action if the issue of apartheid is raised again. The statement is intended to instigate and cannot be tolerated,” he said.
Boo first made such a statement on Feb 26 this year in the Johor state assembly and then repeated it in his speech at a declamation of the Batu Pahat Chinese Association, which was reported by a Chinese newspaper on June 30.
Hishammuddin spoke to reporters after attending a briefing on security arrangements for the Manek Urai state by-election, nomination for which is tomorrow. Polling is on July 14.
He said such a statement should not have been uttered because it did not reflect the country’s achievements and harmony of the last 50 years or so after attaining independence.
He said Malaysia had become popular as a multi-racial country where the people lived in peace and worked together to develop the nation. The statement made by Boo could destroy the inter-racial unity built up over the years and undermine national harmony, he said.
“We are investigating, and the immunity (in the state assembly) should have its limits. What is the aim of democratic freedom if anyone can utter words which can destroy racial harmony and peace and lead to chaos?” he said.
Meanwhile, Hishammuddin said 1,588 policemen have been deployed under a first phase to ensure an incident-free nomination tomorrow.
Commenting on claims by residents of Manek Urai and Kampung Laloh that frequent electricity disruption recently was due to a temporary police command post in the constituency, Hishammuddin said this was not true as the police command post used its own generator and did not depend on power supply from Tenaga Nasional Berhad. — Bernama

Why are the Ketuanan UMNO Melayu so ashamed to be compared to the white boers' apartheid policies?
It is very painful to face the truth, is'nt it?

Awang Selamat is having a gala time, instigating.
Home Minister somehow cannot see this?
Because he cannot read Malay language?
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is nowhere near the shadow of his dad.
In fact this Home Minister is an insult to his dad.

Hisham is the most abhorrently arrogant and intimidating charactor of UMNO.
Whichever minister he went, you had brought nothing but distruction.
Look at what happened to Education ministry, even someone as dong-headed as Muhyiddin is complaining about how messed up our education system is.
Muhyiddin should have confronted Hisham on the devastated stage of our education.

So our dear home minister, please before you start sending out your people to arrest people clad in black, or drinking teh tarik, or holding candle, be clear of what you trying to say. Having harmony and achievements is a different point to the country practising a race-based policy.
As always, when they can't explain or rebute the challenge, they will resort to action. I almost forgotten, justice never really exist in bolehland. Sad case. Go find out and see for yourself.

My friends from South Africa, both those who suffered under as well as benefited from Apartheid in South Africa tell me that the affirmative action policies of the UMNO led government are apartheid in nature.
You, sir, surely cannot possibly know what Apartheid really meant. these people do. I would think they are better at defining and deciding what is and what is not Apartheid.
So, you tell me sir, am I to take your words or definitions or am I to take theirs?

Please stop hiding behind status of "BUMIPUTRA" while trying to deceive Malaysians.
Please also don't try to use the word Bumiputra when actually it is only for Malays of UMNO only.

Explain, please, in a more coherent way why "Bumiputra Policy" is not apartheid. In fact, I tend to agree with you why "bumiputra policy" is not apartheid. But having said that, it doesn't mean that some UMNO leaders do not deviate from the original objectives of "Bumiputra policy", and, knowingly or unknowingly, make it more like apartheid. This is actually the main problem. Therefore, your warning without explaining it properly, I'm afraid, will only consolidate the group who would like to turn "bumiputra policy into apartheid.
Apartheid is a more sinister policy aimed to TOTAL RACIAL SEGREGATION and using LAWS to uphold the supremacy of a particular race, which is a tiny minority, and DEPRIVE the majority, the poorer group of another race, of all aspects of human rights, not only the right to vote and the right for equality and justice but also the right to work, to housing, to education and to all social amenities. This is apartheid.
The Wikipedia gives, in part, this definition: "Racial segregation in South Africa began in colonial times, but apartheid as an official policy was introduced following the general election of 1948. New legislation classified inhabitants into racial groups (black, white, coloured, and Indian), and residential areas were segregated by means of forced removals. Blacks were deprived of their citizenship, legally becoming citizens of one of ten tribally based self-governing homelands or bantustans, four of which became nominally independent states. The government segregated education, medical care, and other public services, and provided black people with services inferior to those of whites."
I don't think "Bumiputra policy" or the way Malaysia is run at the moment, even tough by UMNO is not a partheid. The DAP MP has been mischievous, most likely trying to woo non-Malay votes irresponsibly.
It is the duty of all, including Hisham and UMNO, to see that the "Bumiputra policy" would not degenerate into apartheid.

Dont be a coward and hypocrite, u can treat non-bumi whatever u wan, with what ever unfair policies because u r still the ruling party. Just have the courage and balls to say: "yes, this is bolehland, u r living in our land, so, u need to adhere to our unfair rules.
Anyway, where's your short light-saber? Come-on la, show us again la.

The rakyat are well read now and won't be easily swayed by empty talks. If Dr. Boo talks rubbish, he'll not be elected the next time around. So, please stop threatening the citizen of the country. You should welcome their opinions and learn why they think so. Maybe after 50 years, UMNO have not achieve enough in terms of racial integration.

If the idiots in MCA, MIC, Gerakan, and PPP do not see a problem with this disparity in treatment by UMNO which suggests a deterioration of democracy in Malaysia and the bleak future of our children, they are either mental retards or acted merely in their own selfish interest. Either case, they are not deserving of the support of Malaysians for as long as this lack of morality and compassion toward the hardship of people persists.

Indeed I have to agree with DAP on this one. the system stinks.
Hisham, u are not a racist and well educated. The question is whether u got the will power to fix a very deep rooted rotten system.

Twisted logic again: just because Msia has been blessed with peace and interracial harmony since the crisis in 1969 does not mean that the NEP was responsible for it.
In fact, we thrived socially in spite of the NEP regime. Except of course for the economy, which had been drained of its vitalism judging by the fact the FDI is declining and foreign equity investors have been sellers of the Msian market for many years.
Hisham's statement is like similar to the distorted logic of saying since China has thrived under Communism, Communism is good for China. If that is true, then we all developing countries should become communist and tyranise the people with lack of freedom of speech/religious belief, etc. while giving them economic freedom to be rich.

If we are not free to high light any discrepancies and problems , how are we to tackle them and progress? If we are not willing to listen and solve any problem, then we have to live with it. This is not good for the nation and in the end there will be confrontation that leads to waste.

Once they admit that we practise apartheid in disguise, they will lose all the golden eggs like contract awards, APs etc.
Let the BN keep their NEP ideas - we only need to vote them out to persuade them of the error of their thinking.
