Terima kasih! Alleycat’s Loga conferred posthumous datukship

PENANG, July 11 — Susan Lovie, widow of Alleycats lead singer A. Loganathan today received the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), on behalf of her late husband.

Loganathan was among 793 recipients of honours and medals conferred in conjunction with the 71st birthday of the Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas.

Lovie, 53, characterised the posthumous award, which carries a Datukship, as recognition for the local music industry, and dedicated the award to family, friends and fans who continuously supported her late husband.

“I am accepting this medal on behalf of the music industry, family, friends and his fans,” she told reporters after receiving the medal.

The Penang-based Alleycats is an iconic group in the country, whose popularity dates back to the 70s. Its first album, “Terima Kasih”, was produced in Singapore in 1978, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Alleycats became a household name in the country and Singapore, and also made a name in the international music scene. The group’s popular hits include “Sampaikan Salam Cinta Ku Padanya”, “Sekuntum Mawar Merah Sebuah Puisi” and “Andainya Aku Pergi Dulu Sebelummu”. — Bernama
